Hi all,

Looking for part number 51167041704 - brittle plastic meant mine has snapped.

Could possibly plastic weld but wanted to see if I could source one first.

Cheers

It's available new to order from LL Parts. BMW Stevenage have it listed at £39. Worth checking with them over the phone first.

Cheers both - was hoping to get a used one for cheaper. May just repair what I have
To be honest, it has to be one of the cheapest Z4 parts out there now. But you could always check eBay for breakers.

Only one used one on eBay and it's the same price as new 🤯

Cv6benplus might have one.

if you are going to repair it - straighten out a staple or paper clip - heat it up then press into the back of the plastic crack to bridge it, then use epoxy resin or milliput on the back to reinforce it - if you do that well enough you may not even see the crack now. If you need to fill the crack use the same products, sand them then spray the whole part with satin black paint.

Given that a used one will be brittle and how involved they are to change, I would go new at that price

Oddly, I do.
I wouldn't have said cheapest, certainly rarest in complete condition.
It is complete. Although brittleness had set it and I had to break out the epoxy resin glue to fix back on the none visible parts that came off.
It's not black.
I don't list all my parts so it's always worth asking. 😉

Thanks all - going by what they sell for, going to leave it for now and just live with the crack. Don’t think it’s in a really noticeable location anyway, down the hazards/handbrake area.

Lesson learnt, I cracked it as I removed it from the aluminium trim as part of the airbag deactivation work - now know it didn’t need to come off in the first place, which is another reason why I’m reluctant to pay! I plan to mention this in a guide if I can get the airbag deactivation retrofit to work.
