Handbrake (E-Brake) "Double Yank" - Do you do it??

I only pull mine once as twice is pointless and 3 times is classed as playing with yourself! :P

I think this is right - pulling the lever a second time doesn't actually do anything and you don't hear the motor whirring again. :)

Have you tried the emergency stop feature by pulling and holding (oohhh errr  ) when the car is moving? :D

If on a hill I also do the double yank, first yank is normally 3 of 4 clicks while the second yank is just 2-3 clicks. I also thought it was just may car that did this. I had mine adjusted not long after I purchased it as you had to pull it to about 7 clicks which was rubbish.

I pull twice. Alot. When I first got the car, I noticed it kept rolling back (in traffic with handbrake up). I yanked it harder :P . Then the car was stationary. I put the car in first or reverse depending on what slope I park on, because I noticed my handbrake needs pulling hard, or twice is the first pull was light :poke:

Am I the only one who has no idea what this is all about? Never double yanked or even knew it was necessary....

No, I'm with you on this. Can't see the point? One pull up is all it takes.

the point is.. lol.

when you pull it the first time, it comes up quite high and often is pretty rubbish (certainly doesn't hold my car still on the driveway incline).

To get away from putting the car in first and letting the engine hold it still on the drive, I then release the handbrake fully (so it's off) and then immediately pull it up again.

this second time, it only comes up two or three clicks and holds the car perfectly.

could it be this autotensioner thingy is knackered?

All i can say is, try the double yank and you'll know what were all on about!

I double yanked on tuesday night and the rubber hasn't moved an inch!

wait.. what?

Glad i found this post as i parked my car on a sloped driveway last night pulled the hangbrake as far as it could go and it started rolling back a little, so took it off, and reapplied it and it didnt go nearly as high up the second time, but didnt roll back.

Left it in gear just in case though!
