Hand brake adjustment.

Hi Amigos,
Having serious trouble locating the hand-brake adjuster on my 2005 2.2 Zed. Changed the rear disk pads without problem and according to the Haines manual, the hand-brake adjustment thingy is accessed through the ten o'clock mark/hole on the hub. Spent ages trying to see it but no joy. Am I missing something?

Cheers.

Your looking for a knurled wheel...

Shine a torch through wheel bolt hole and rotate through 360 degrees .. You will spot it..

You are right it is about 10 two. What you have to do is pretend you are a gynaecologist with a screwdriver. To tighten up on the drivers side you need to turn the wheel up. and on the other side down. Put the screwdriver in at an angle. So on the drivers side the handle of the screwdriver will be higher than the stud hole and on the other side lower and then have a good fiddle to you find it. You will know when you have found it you will feel it turn. A large screwdriver is the best. Best of luck.

Use the method as displayed in TIS.
First relief the automatic tensioner!!

Then turn the small cog so far that you cant rotate the wheel anymore by hand.
Then adjust back about 9 teeth.
release automatic tensioner.

Am I correct in thinking that the hand-break tension adjuster is at the actual hand break end? Thanks for the replies would appear to be a bit of a fiddly job. I spent ages trying to see the adjustment wheel through the tiny hole - even with a torch. Gave up in the end. Oh well, here goes!

No - adjustment is at the rears wheels.

I recommend taking the wheel off as it's easier to see the adjuster through the bolt hole.. In reality it's still Akin to being a gynaecologist and decorating the hall through the letterbox...

Hi Guys,
Have been busy changing front pads so not got around to h/brake adjustment (again) yet. Hope to do it later in the week and thanks for the info. Seems a crazy way of doing the adjustment - the hole is tiny! Oh well, we will persevere.
