I bet Mercedes Benz are proud.

Has been occurring in all forms of motorsport for years, normally with women in shorter skirts and tighter tops

Nothing to see here, move on...

The Daily Mail first reported this after the race. Sexist bullying? Really? REALLY?!!!

One for the professionally offended brigade to get their teeth into.

Meanwhile the season resumes this weekend :driving:

I hate abuse of power. It seems hard to believe that a brand ambassador could be so ill mannered. It's like he doesn't understand his role.

No. There is something to see here.
Turning a blind eye to institutional humiliation and exploitation of women is a real problem.

Do you want your daughters to be safe?

Give that ted talk a chance Ranski.

It made me rethink my attitude to not really caring because there was nothing I could do. People like us (successful bmw sports car driving grown men) have real influence on attitudes. We can make a difference.

If you raise your daughters so all they have is a pretty face then you have failed them - not the people looking at them (or spurting on them)

You are kind of missing the point jasey. By a very long way.

Domestic abuse is a men's issue. The daughters are not culpable.

If someone steals your car is it BMW's fault for making an attractive car?

being a motorsport girl and not being "spurted" on is like being a female boxer and not being hit. if you go into that profession or job, then what are you expecting exactly??

Depends if my car is an annoying bitch or not

Bit over the top this isn't it? He was excited, everyone was squirting champagne, he probably thought she would find it funny etc.

I'm sorry, but its the Guardian so what do you expect. The girl even said its not a big deal. Just people making a story to fit into their way of think!

As women decide which car to buy in most households i guess it is important for a brand ambassador to show respect. Maybe Mercedes like the image linked to. I don't know. I think it is kind of obvious, I expect linking cars to virility is fine but linking the brand to sexual assault is less desirable.

That was my op.

I mentioned sexism in response to a couple of posts further up the thread. I can justify my objection to the humiliation of eye candy in Motorsport, institutional or otherwise. It wasn't my point though.

So, let me get this straight.......... Hamilton, who I'm not a big fan of btw - in fact I'm not that big on F1 per se, I only watch it when I feel like a good kip. MotoGP is far more appealing and exciting, there is more action happening on the track in one MotoGP race (where the racers have balls the size of which F1 drivers can only (wet?) dream about) than F1 sees in a whole season, :) But I digress.

Hamilton squirts this lass with a bit of champers - an event that has taken place on almost every FI podium since it began - she doesn't complain about it but the papers blow it into some kind of imternational incident? Must have been a slow news day! It illustrates perfectly who are the instigators of the modern "PCness we all have to endure. It's all wearng a bit thin with me now to be honest.

Where is the evidence that women decide which car to buy in most households? It would be a joint decision in my household!!

Absolutely right, a joint decision, I keep suggesting different cars until SWMBO says OK to one of them

Perry has that one right! :(

They have a veto. Annoying but true. I bumped into the factoid in a marketing article. I could try and find it if you want.

The second link uses peaked instead of piqued, what a doofus!

That's where all you fannys are going wrong.

The wife finds out about my choice of car usually when I pitch up in it.

If she doesn't like she can always take the bus
