Halogen to Xenon Conversion

No real point, but it's a sidelight, so when you put your headlight switch onto the first setting, this will be the only bulb emitting light.
I would advise an LED ('501') bulb from ebay to remove the 'yellow' if it bothers you.

do you know what sort of connector is on the bulb, as there appear to be a few differences

Also, is it a simple case of removing the panel and replacing the bulb?

Thanks in advance

infact these look the job? also have error cancellers'

Access from the rear and just a simple push in fit into a holder. Tip is to leave the sidelight on then you can use the illuminated bulb to view from the front as you zone into the target to refit it

Caution though the LED's will project into the silvered reflector area and look hideous. You need to get something that looks like a bulb. an then add a 5w ceramic ballast to prevent bulb out. did it before I went to CCFL Angel Eyes.

Thanks for the info phil - i will order these http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/501-error-free-8-smd-led-sidelights-bulbs-white-p-497.html and feedback once they are fitted

Took a few more pics this morning of the xenon's (5000k)

(Drive isnt flat hence the left seems a tad higher)

Well worth the change

Lights look clean and bright :)

How does the car anti theft device on the wall work? Do you put the chain through one of the front wheels and padlock it on?

bump :D Gonna get some ordered tonight hopefully.

Arent these going to be an MOT failure with the new rules in December 2011, theres a bit in one of this months BMW mags about it?

ok so I have just bought a set like the ones andmas has bought. finding it hard to follow the instructions - they are the same instructions that is pictured above. So there is the ballasts loom with 3 connections on them and the hid bulbs loom with 3 connections on them plus 2 little flat metal pieces - 1 with a red wire and 1 with a black wire on each bulb loom. I take it the that the 3 connections on each just plug into one another between the bulb loom and ballast loom (red to red, black to black) but where does these 2 black and red wires with flat metal pieces on the end connect to?

Havnt actually got into the light unit of the car yet - just figuring out what to do with them first. Im thinking that they connect into the existing light somehow?? apologies for being stupid and thanks in advance

Hi guys, this should be a easy one for you.

I collected the my new Z4 today, not one to let the grass grow under my feet, I popped into HIDS Direct in manchester on the way home, for the 50W slim line kit. I told him it was for a 56 plate, paid for it and I toddled off. When I got home I re-read all the posts. I am not sure if the lad has supplied me the kit with the error cancellers. So I have taken a picture, could you please advise me..... Doofus if I have got the correct kit I plan on having a play tonite with them. So I will let you know what I encounter.

your kit looks the same as the one I got and I wasnt sure about the error cancellors too..but I ordered off the site with the H7 error cancellors so I asssumed I got them - if i did then you have got them too!

The smaller black boxes are the cancellers. The larger box is a combined igniter and ballast. :)

Hope the colour temperature is not above 6000k!

Pet hate of mine- Micra or the like with a 7000k retrolfit kit behind you on a wet April night, makes my blood boil. :fuelfire:

The metal 'spade' connectors fit to the plug removed from the old halogen bulbs.
