Found this company based in China that do the lenses also. They also have 80mm CCFL AE's...

Not sure on price, but my bet is that eBayer from the US sources them from this or a similar Chinese company.

I'm sure all the CCFL' come from there. The top circle one's look the same as those I fitted but can't recall the exact sizes I used. Mine came from Oznium.com but the seem to have moved onto LED's only.

Good find though with all the xenon stuff

In your writeup you said 80mm.

Is it straight forward to fit the kit? Got no instructions with mine but will be giving it a go over weekend!

Ok so I gave it a go. All in on passengers side - tested with engine not running - all working. Start the engine and they flicker and go out.

Any ideas? This to do with the error cancellers? I got the same set as the op with the canbus correction. As the kit from hid direct has no instructions Is this error canceller a separate plug in? As had no experience of such a kit before it's hard to see what the error is or to know if they sent me the right stuff!

Any guidance appreciated

Sorry J4MYO, i cant help you on the issue instead have a question on a potential problem when upgrading to xenon's

In short i had mine booked into get the upgrade but had to reschedule - anyway... the fitter has come back to me now saying that

"The general view seems that it will work but more than likely it will show up a fault as the current required is different from the original and the computer will think there is a bulb fault. If you don't mind a fault light then it should be OK."

Has anyone else had this bulb fault since upgrading? as im not keen for a permenant error light or this flashing up at MOT's/services etc

Thanks!

They had forgotten to send me the error cancelling module. That's now arrived so will try again at the weekend!

Hi J4YMO, is the error cancelling module standard as part of the kit? or they are providing separately? As the description doesnt detail that and i may order one of these

Ranski - I ordered the kit linked to in the first post. If you look at that link you choose on the drop down h7 bulbs with error cancelers. All pretty straight forward to fit - just a tight working environment!

I had a quick glance at that one - I dont think its a slim line one is it? Space is tight in the headlight so if you want to hide the ballast etc in the light unit itself you will need a small a unit as possible.

No worries. For the few minutes mine were working last week they did look great. Hopefully we have some half decent weather this weekend and I can sort them out again and say goodbye to the candle light!

HID direct delivery is next day so you never know they may show on Saturday.

I got my HID Kit from HIDS-Direct and I was adviced that these ones would fit the Z4 very well:-

Fast shipping, helpful customer support and so easy to fit. The ballasts fit inside the headlight casing a treat and there is no problem with warning lights on the dashboard. Its now like driving with headlights on rather than a candle lol. Well worth the money. I hope this helps someone :D

Was there a reason why you guys didnt order this one http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/bmw-supervision-50w-hid-kits-p-279.htmlas they seem to be selling this model specifically for BMW/Z4
That's the exact kit I have fitted to my Z4 - no error lights, the work perfectly, 4300k colour is indistinguishable from OEM BMW colour (well, compared to a friend's E46 factory xenons). It isn't slimline though, but slimline weren't available when I bought mine.

Been looking at various conversion kits:
HID-Direct = £63
HIDS4U = £145
Both appear to be similar but such a large difference in price makes me suspicious that either one is cr*p or one is a rip-off.

Does anyone know why HIDS4U conversion is so much more?

Rob

The HIDS4U kit appears to have the same connectors and similar bulbs to the hids-direct offering.

Although the HIDS4U ballast seems to look cheaper and like those seen on the ebay style kits.

I'd go for hids-direct every time :)

sorry to be thick but should these fit with no warning lights etc, they just dont come with any instructions?

Does anyone have pics of their installation? e.g. where they have fitted wiring etc

thanks in advance

No pics of mine I'm afraid. Not the neatest install in the headlamp but it does all fit! Mounted the ballast as noted by the op
