Halo/Angel Lights

Just some advice if poss - have seen posts in the US about changing the lights to more brighter 'white' lights - but has anyone doen this in the UK? I just think the amber ones are a little dull, and against a white car, new whiter lights would look great...

Nickm - I have done this and used the MTEC H8 35w 12v Cosmos Blue HID class xenon gas bulbs from HIDS-Direct on eBay. Straight 1 for 1 replacement and good white, bright light. I took the info from http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=417234&highlight=hids-direct
 
Thanks mate. Have used this co. for the lights on my RRS. Great products. Are they easy to change?
 
I've got the MTECs as well, they can be changed in less than three mins - to do both sides!

The replacements are much whiter, but not chavvy blue. Some say ever to slightly not as bright, but IMHO much better.

Thanks guys, and David yours look great - just hope I can do them - but I managed to do the RRS ones and had to take the whole headlight unit out....I might come find you for some help if I get stuck!

A neccessary mod I think!

Only problem I found was removing the original lamps as although the instructions in the manual are absolutely correct one of mine came out easily but for the other one I had to try 4 or 5 times before it suddenly seemed to release :headbang:
 
Thanks Mike - guys from HID are not back til next week, but may still order them online even though I would have liked to have got them for the weekend....
 
Just changed the lights and yes they look exactly like the pics in the ones changed in the links....and yes white light but not as bright as I would have liked...the ones I got are MTEC 12V 35W/65W H8 - any other suggestions on something brighter? Thanks
 
Does the fact that I have 4350K bulbs and not the 8500 as mentioned on the other link make much diference? Mine look as bright as the ones in the pic...but the 3 series ones look super bright
 
The new 3 series has entirely new lighting using LEDs, normal bulbs however good won't look the same, but are a very cheap item to update.
 
Maniac, did mine and they are a really good upgrade, really lift the colour of the halo lights....done yours?
 
Yes Nick I have the mtecs as they were a very cheap mod and I didn't want cables running all over the place with the LED stuff. They are a better colour, if a little dimmer than the stock OSRAM units. Also added a stubby and my front solid black kidney grills have just arrived.. A little task for Saturday.. Only had the car six weeks lol...
 
Did my stubby second week but leaving my grills as they are. They suit the white. I was in Manchester on weekend but pissed it down all the time there. Zed looked good. Only saw one other E89 in 600 miles. But about 50 RRS like mine!!
