£40 for winter check and antifreeze change and Duxback windscreen treatment.

Duxback is a revolutionary protective film which repels rain, snow and dirt, keeping your windscreen cleaner and clearer all year round. It also reduces the ice build up on the windscreen making it easier to clear on frosty mornings.

Thoughts? Quite tempted. Seems decent. More intrigued/enthused for the duxback windscreen treatment really. :driving:

I wouldn't let Halfords change a bulb on my car, let alone "service" it. I've heard to many horror stories of unqualified teenagers causing damage :x

I don't think that there's anything on that list that I don't do myself, and I am certainly not handy when it comes to anything g under the bonnet.

Is Duxback any different from Rain-X I wonder?

+1

Waste of 40 sponds imo.
And rain-x ftw everyrime!
Detailers Top tip: use wire wool on ur windscreen for a deepclean before any windscreen treatment. It wont scratch and acts as a good primer for rain-x et al.

As said steer as far away from Halfords as you possibly can, I wouldn't let them within 10ft of my car to even look at the tyre tread. They're right up there with Kwik Crap Fit for low paid couldn't give a s**t know nothing idiots being let loose on cars. You've got to have the car equivalent of full time burger flippers and there they are.

BTW...I'm not overly keen on them... :)

Wire wool on your windscreen? What!?

Ok so, what grade would be the obvious question?

This is 2nd time I have seen someone suggest wire wool on the car...I know I am not that brave having seen what it does to copper piping!

Surely a clay bar achieves the same result but less abrasion?

The first time I heard this was my dad telling me a story about his dad.
My dad and his brother were working on a car and their dad thought he would help out by cleaning the rear window.
He used wire wool all over the window to get it nice and clean.
It wasnt until he went to clean and polish it that he discovered is wasnt a glass window but a perspex window and he had ruined it.
I dont think he was flavour of the month.

So you don't use Halfwords then John. Good decision.

yep. Been doin it for years. Well, ever since I started travelling to Poland where the roads there seem to be constructed with a final top 2 inch layer of pure grime!

My regimen is to wash first, wirewool, wash again, rain-x treatment. Done!
Don't forget to rain-x ur wipers too.

wire wool on ur windscreen......

Use grade 0000 wire wool for windows and it works a treat.

A lot more effective than a clay bar on glass :)

Razor blade works well on the windscreen as well - again, lube and scrape, but stay away from the plastics!
