Halfords fail...

Unfortunately I couldn't get a picture as it'd look a bit creepy, but I have just seen a Halfords employee completely removing the headlight on a 5 series to replace a bulb. Happy to be corrected but I'm pretty sure that you go through the wheel arch like on our cars. Funny

(Of course this is when I find out one of the design quirks BMW added to the 5 series just for giggles...)

I'm not to sure about the 5 but my friend recently went to change the Xeon in his 2009 3 series to find the whole front bumper had to come off to get the headlight unit out.

Edit, it does in fact appear the E60 5 series bulb replacement is done by removing the headlight unit.

Atleast he did it.... I last went there back in 2000 to have my bulb changed on my mk4 golf GTi, ad the space was tight with the battery... Chap said yeah easy no probs....

Wasted 45 minutes with him scratching his head then saying neah cant do it, the light is sealed by the dealer WTF!!

I ended up doing it in front of him in 20 mins removing the battery, and airbox!

Well s**t - what a PITA. And I thought fumbling about with ours was a hassle. Poor chap didn't seem overly sure of what he was doing...

I'll go one better. I saw a young female employee changing headlight bulbs outside halfords the other day.

I have to admit, I did get a little turned on by this
