Had to be recovered today....

Enjoying my drive back to Gaydon from Reading, just outside a little village called Sandford-on-Thames, went to put power down and the car went spluttering. A few judders later, this starting flashing on the dash (pic is not my car):

My god it was running terribly, all of the place. Managed to pull over, felt like it was misfiring on a few cylinders, and a massive plumb of white smoke being created from the exhausts. Turned her off and then tried to start her again: stalled.
BMW Assist came out, got it on the flatbed back to Leamington and straight to the dealer.

Any guesses on whats broken?
 
Possibly injectors as same symptoms as I had with cutting out and missing smoking etc. This at 23000 and after a couple of workshop visits with resets of the control unit it all boiled down to injectors being stuffed.
 
Injectors were my first thoughts, will have to wait until tomorrow when the dealer gets back to me. It funny because only the other night I thought the engine was VERY tappy (from the injectors) on idle.
 
I broke a valve spring , felt like it was running on 3 cylinders...it was. No smoke though...
