Had the bypass pipes fitted today

Do a search, there's plenty of info with before and after videos.

I think they sound great, if I could get hold of a cheap set of OEM backboxes then I'd do this mod

Two pipes that bypass the rear muffler.

Had mine made with remote valves for stealth mode on my custom quad.

Got any pics/info about your set up? I want to do a valve controlled exhaust on my M and wondering how best to go about it

I researched and then bought from China a pair of 12v solenoid steam valves, but decided not to fit them in the end. They added quite a lot to the weight and complexity of fitting. I also considered manual ball valves that you could close by hand by reaching above the exhaust boxes but the more I read about the bypass pipes and how they didn't greatly add to the volume I couldn't see why I would ever switch them off.

Nothing complex about fitting them if they arebeing done at the same time as the exhaust fitting.

You need the exhaust off the car in any case.

Wiring was easy too.
I bought the valves from here in the UK although the qtp ones from america are probably better.
I ended up buying their control unit.

The below is prior to welding and was the final test fit

8) I see, was imagining a small valve inline with the 3/4" bypass pipes, I bet your set up sounds superb with the valves open?

Whats the idea behind using a backbox in that set up? Does it reduce the noise that much, despite it being substantially bypassed?

Because when the valves are closed it uses the back box entirely. When they're open you don't care how much back box is used!

When the valves are closed its a nicer sound than stock and yet refined. Valves open and its machine gun on the overun and much nicer throughout the rev range.

I was planning on a decat but never got round to it as still debating custom headers or gut mine.
just need to find somewhere to do it since supersprint dont do rhd ones.

Either way i designed the exhaust myself and H&S brought it to fruition. Its what i wanted and the right platform for me to mess with headers sinc pe then the valves would make allot more difference in volume.
