Had a punt at plastidip - pics inside

Got myself a rattle can of Plastidip from Amazon the other day, as I was intrigued by it:

Initially, I had a go at repainting my strut braces, and was pleased with the result - especially as I didn't bother sanding them down first or anything.
Sadly, I didn't take any before or after pics, but they look as good as new, and nicely matt black

Then, tonight I had a go at dipping the kidney grills.
Here's what they looked like before:

I wanted matt black "teeth" but the silver surrounds.
On one side, I decided to mask up the surround, whilst on the other I decided to separate the surround:

After four coats, I was really pleased with the outcome:

and then fitted:

so far, I've been really pleased with the product.. does exactly what it says on the tin, and does it well.
I'll come back to this post after a month of driving to let you know how it's holding up to general road life.. but if the reviews are to be believed, it should hold well and do the job.

The best bit being I can just peel it off if I don't like it, or want to replace it
Also, it seemingly adds a rubber-like coating, which may help with rebounding stones instead of chips... maybe.. time will tell :)

Exactly what I was pondering over doing to my kidneys with plastidip. Be interested to know how long it lasts so keep us updated

The lower centre bar of an M bumper would look good coated in this. I wonder how well it will stand up to stone chipping. :?

I did the outside rings on my grills 3-4 times as it kept being chipped by stones. Ended up wrapping which solved the chipping issue

I'm just browsing on here between coats!! :)

Black on black for me though, I previously sprayed the grills matt black with normal car paint but they didn't last long. Now I'm gonna try Plasti dip on grills and surround.

It's good stuff!!
