Had a passenger ride in an M135i today

Wouldn't a nearly new 1M be a better bet than a new M135iM or whatever it's called?

Yes it would but they had one at a dealer near me last month for sale for a shade under £40K second hand! Nice though! 8)

I was totally sucked in by this car after paying a little visit to the local dealership about a month back. I wasn't keen on the looks of the 1 series after only one of the last generation which was probably the worst car I've ever owned. I really didn't take to the looks of the new one when it came out but it seems subtle changes can make a big difference to this car. The M Sport body kit, the right paint colour and the xenon headlights make a massive difference to how the car looks, I am a self confessed hot hatch fan though. Perhaps the biggest difference has to be the interior. It is now on a par with it's larger stable mates such as the 6 series and is light years ahead of the previous gen e81 or even the e90.

I got a quote from the dealer and was very nearly tempted as their current deals do make them very affordable. However, as it would be my everyday car doing 15k miles per year the actual consumption figures that most are quoting on babybmw made me think twice. I then started looking at the 125i which has perfectly acceptable Golf GTi beating performance. However, the price and running costs are only marginally less than the M135i. I'm now deliberating over a 125d. Same performance as the 125i (I'd hazard a guess it's faster when rolling) only it'll return 50mpg. It's just a pitty it sounds like a tractor.

Not sure you can distill a performance car down to a bunch of figures, the figures are so close that performance will be similar. There's much more to the M3 than 0-60 times

Very true but hasn't the M135i just done an 8.05 BTG lap at the 'ring too with an amateur driver on Pilot Super Sports? What does that equate to on a full lap? About 8.30?

Did very well in the EVO performance car of the year got into the top 6. If you can live with the looks it is a lot of performance for the money .

If you like the way it looks you should probably buy one as it seems to be the only minus point .. It certainly gave the Alpina B3 GT a tough time of it in the evo test this year.

I'm not sure what engine they've put in the M135i, but I've read that people have been mapping the 1M's engines up to around 450hp, which makes them very, very quick indeed. Sounds like fun, certainly.
