Had a bit of an accident...

Thanks for the advice guys, will make sure to take some before and after pics of the car all round to be sure they don't do any additional damage. I will also clean it inside and out too so that it is expected back in the same condition.

I know BMW don't physically do the work and its just subcontracted out, but i would rather have photo evidence and a receipts from BMW so any future buyer knows its been done properly, or at least won't be put off by a receipt from an unknown entity. The claim is now being processed anyway, and the good news is the wife's insurance have not asked for an excess, yet... :? Said that as she wasn't claiming it wasn't required, though not sure on that...

In other news was on my daily travels this morning and an aggregate lorry chucked a stone into and cracked my screen, so there's another damn thing to try get sorted. Have contacted the company in question who are trying to find the driver, but all their trucks are franchised so finding one to own up could be tricky, so looks like i may have to get that done on insurance too :headbang:

You have to go with what you feel is right and understand the BMW badge on repairs.

Glad no excess but it'll come back in increased premiums for the next few years. Protected NCB or not...

We did some quotes and just by shopping around we managed to find a quote only £20 more expensive a year with 0 NCB and accident declared, don't actually think its going to cost a great deal in the long run, at least here's hoping anyway! :)

We don't have it protected, so will have zero NCB next year. The new quote was starting from nothing if that makes sense.

Either way so long as its sorted we can handle a slight hike in premiums, just have to make sure she is a good wifey from now on.

For some reason no one has yet to ask the important question. Was simonlpearce compensated by his wife? :poke: :titshake:

Good news!
Have they given you a time frame for when it'll be ready? Still planning on going to the Welsh meet in April?

Messy accident :( My Mrs did something similar and reversed a former car of ours into another in a car park. Cost me a shed load.

Personally I'd never use BMW themselves to repair an accident. They service cars and do mechanicals not really bodywork.
Although there are some dubious quality specialists around, in general all they do all day long is repair cars, spray them align panels, etc.

Near to me in Cannock is one that just repairs high end cars. They by chance did me a Hunter alignment and the shop was full of Porsche, big Mercs. an Aston, etc. That's the sort of place that would get my work if required on the simple basis that if it's good enough for £50k+ cars it certainly is on a £5-£10k Zed

Hi Mate I'm in Cannock quite a lot , is it Shorade by any chance, just curious,

Originally BMW said 3 weeks, that seems a lot to me but I'm not going to hurry it along by any means. So depending which motor I'm in will depend if I come.
