Ha ha - it's the roof

I was showing a mate of mine the gap tech mechanism today. It has always worked from the buttons in the car but the 3 presses on the fob doesn't always work. It worked this time. When I went to show him how cool you can look walking away while it closes, I started to look uncool as it stuck in the half open/closed position. I tried the button in the car & that wouldn't close. I tried the open button which worked fine. Trying to close it after that - the windows drop but nothing. Tried with button & remote - nothing. I manually released the hood & closed it, tried it again & the roof clamps locked the hood down.
Just tried again with the key, windows drop & clamps release but motor doesn't kick in.

I have checked the fuses.
What are the things to check to find out if it is a knackered motor or not?

You have a foobard roof motor .
Check micro switch in boot at back of luggage shelf first.
But it is giving all the symptoms of a shot motor .

There is a couple of guys on here that relocate the motor to the boot at very reasonable costs.
Also if your half capable yourself you can remove motor without removing the roof.
You may find the motor can be saved just with a good clean and dry out.they.are very robust however bad they may look .
Mine was salvaged and cleaned and now works great.this will also save you a large chunk of cash.
