H8 Cree bulbs

Could be a spare.

I had a set of BMS units on my E92 which I'm sure where just re-branded eBay ones.
They Lasted about 2 years before throwing up warnings and going duff. I think in my case it was something inside the LED unit that went pop but I did see others reporting ballasts failing so the manufacturer may be giving spares.

All units I have seen come with a very similar setup. The H8 stalk with 2/4 cree LEDs and a ballast in a small black tube. The LED stalk is plugged into the ballast with a small white connector and the ballast plugs into the lights power connection from the car.

Got a reply from the seller on ebay, apparently both units are used for warning light cancelling and they say to use both if there is room in the light unit. There's pleanty of room in there so I'll hook up the other one once I've got some cable ties.

Thanks for your help!

Hi guys, I've been thinking about buying these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-STOCK-H8-CREE-2-20W-BMW-Angel-Eye-LED-Lamp-White-Light-1-3-5-Series-X5-X6-Z4-/121204777761?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c385e2321

They look quite well made (compared to some on eBay) but I'm worried that these might turn out to be cheap knock offs that don't use CREE LED's. For the sake of £20 should I go with the ones recommended earlier?

Tried these, looked c**p, sent them back.

As a daylight running light i think any led will be useless.
Leds are classed as laser product so unless you are looking straight into the die, they will never be bright.
Reason why when they are used on vehicles, you see the individual leds as a string. That setup looks a bit chavvy.

Tried these;

But not as bright as the original Osram H8 bulbs.
Can't understand why the standard H8 bulbs are so expensive, circa £8-15.

I have some 35w hids, but think they might melt the interior of lense.
Also LIDL use to have some really bright car bulbs, but not H8 :(

I bought the ones Bhavin linked to and for £55 they are very cheap and nasty compared to what i thought I might get. Here's a coupe of pics. Also, there was no white battery box for testing: Also I'm pretty sure that's not a CREE LED. Think I will send them back.

Sent them back and the seller tried to charge me a restocking fee, but eventually refunded me in full because they were IMO absolute crap. Based on using 20W, I think 40W minimum is required. These 20W barely lit the second angel eye.

Similiar brightness experience.
Think the ballasts just contain power resistors in parallel, just to replicate the current consumption of standard bulb, to satisfy the monitoring side of things.
