H8 Cree bulbs

Hi All,

Had a read of a thread on here that suggested 'horizonleds' as a good source for H8 replacement bulbs.

However they don't appear to be listed on eBay any more...I can see a set of MTEC H8's but at 130 they seem to be double the cost of most others on eBay.

Has anyone used these guys...if so any feedback ? I suspect I will order a set in the next day or so....

Thanks

Mine are still good. Deff improvement over stock colour. Could be brighter though... Ill be all 'ugh' when more LCIs are on the road lol

The bulbs arrived this morning...they look fairy well built :)

However they do not have any wiring instructions at all! Which isn't very useful, I suspect this will take some fiddling with to get right...

I will post some pics when I am done :)

No idea what the extra boxes (white/black) are for. Mine didn't look like that.

There was a ballast/resistor and the lamp and wiring went black H8 connector to ballast to lamp.

Fitting turned out to be very simple, took me all of 5 minutes!

There are 2 ballasts per bulb, which is why there is a black and a white connector leading to the bulb fitting.

The white box turned out to be full of small battery's and was actually there so the LED's can be tested when packaged, there was a test me button right at the bottom.

Overall very please with the to product

Looks good, I'm very very tempted to get ones myself. I had a look at the ebay link you put up. On the model selector when you put Z4 in, it says the item does not fit with the model. Is this the exact same one you purchased?

Thanks,

Will

Yep I brought the one from the list...it says z4 in the fitment list on the description of the page.

Can't really go wrong for £60 tbh...a very cheap and easy mod

Will have to see if i'm around this weekend and get a few pics of our cars!

Not liking the yellow halogen bulbs. The led choice seems great but none seem as bright as the BMW new fitment.

Maybe worth having a look at the lamp build and getting some 2 x 9w led fitted to the end of each fiber ?

Are they lit by led of some kind of neon rings ?

just put the same kit on my car, was wondering what the extra box was for, thanks for clearing it up! Did you fasten the contol units to anything inside the light unit? i've got mine loose in there at the moment, just a bit worried about it banging around while i'm driving?

You want to cable tie the ballasts onto something. They are like mini wrecking balls.

thanks R.E92.

on closer inspection the secont unit appears to be a secondary ballast rather than a battery unit. I'm waiting for the seller to get back to me because the instructions and diagrams only mention one ballast per light.
