H&R Springs w/ 19" CSL

Hey guys,

I'm about to purchase a set of H&R springs and 19" CSL wheels for my 07 M coupe and I was just wondering if anyone could help me out.

I need to know the difference in height from the bottom of the front bumper to the road compared to stock.

Reason being, I only have a few inches(maybe 3-5in) of clearance when I pull into my driveway so I'm a little worried.

I know I don't post much but I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance, Carlo.

~ 1"

I assume you're talking about the drop when you say 1".

I'm wondering about the difference in height of the bottom of the front bumper to the ground with H&R springs and 19" CSL's compared to Stock.

:P

Hmmm 225/40 18 and 255/35 18 as standard, the sizes you said are not standard, which would make a difference. Are you right or wrong?

Edit - sorry ///M doh never read it properly!!!!!!!!

OK if you fitted 225/40 and 255/35 19s then it would probably sit about the same with a very similar rolling radius, but the suspension drop would add another 1" (25mm), which might make a fair difference with such limited clearance on the driveway.

I'm at work right now and my car is outside, but I got those wheel and tire sizes from BMWUSA.com

18x8 225/45
18x9 255/40

Right slightly smaller rolling radius than standard so it'll sit a bit lower but more at the back than the front, not much difference at the front really. Think you need to measure the exact clearance at the worst point on the front, and then see if you can afford another 25-30mm lower.
Maybe try attaching something to the front spoiler now that's 30mm or so and see if it scrapes or gets ripped off - if it does you'll know it's a bad idea :D

I think you need to be more careful when selecting tire sizes. If you're moving up in radius you want your aspect ratio to decrease. Same with the tire width...I have an excel calculator that I made if you guys want it.

Edit...The reason you want to be more careful, is cuz if the tire radius if off too much it'll throw off your speedo/odo.

I just did a quick calculation.

Stock your tire diameter is about 660 mm front and rear.

With 245/35 and 265/30 tires you'd be at 655 in the front and 640 in the rear

255/35, front and 295/30 rear would bring you back to 660 f/r, but you might have fitting issues on the wheel with such a fat tire and low aspect ratio. Good luck :)

The CSL wheels are 19x8.5 and 19.9.5 so I'm thinking the tire size will be: 245/35 front, 265/30 rear.

Get either 245/35/19 & 275/30/19, or 235/35/19 & 265/30/19. Both sets are common sizes that people fit on their Z4M's, or E46 M3's.

245/35/19 & 265/30/19 is very unbalanced and not a good idea at all. The front tire side-wall is (comparatively) much taller than the rear tire side-wall.

And by CSL wheels, I hope you mean the authentic CSL wheels or the authentic ZCP wheels, and NOT the Velocity Motoring CSL replica's. I've had 8 sets of aftermarket wheels on my Z4/Z4M and the VM CSL replica wheels were the WORST I've had. Not mention that Velocity Motoring, along with Modbargains, blatantly lied to me about the weight of those wheels (they claimed the 19" weighed 25lbs when in fact they weighed 30lbs). They're extremely heavy, and reduce acceleration and more significantly handling performence.

X2 on 245/35/19 & 275/30/19 setup. No complaints from me on those widths.
X2 on Modbargains too. Be careful when dealing with them.

what is your estimation in having 235/35 19 // 265/30 19 tyres and CSL original wheels?
I thought replica's were as far good.... :o

I run 245/35/19 and 255/35/19 on my Z4MC. Works well for me reducing understeer and allowing the rears to lose grip at will!

The rolling radii are almost identical to OE 18 inch too.

You really start noticing this if you go from say... 16" wheel up to a 19". If you're already at an 18" wheel to 19", you really won't notice the difference. At most you should be about 2.5" off the ground. Anything lower than that will make it really hard for you to drive around. Be glad that you're oil pan is not as exposed as some other vehicles. In any case you should get used to approaching inclines at an angle.

~ 1"

I'll say it again - 1" - this assumes you maintain the same overall tire size by using the correct aspect to width ratio's - If you wanted the actual measurement you should have asked for it
