Guy Martin

It was good to see some familiar characters from my Ring Trips, including DarrenDale from Bridge-to-Gantry, Phillip from Rent4RingService, Achim with his VERY quick Ring Mini Breadvan (little blue mini van) and a few others who I know.

ETA: it was Dale from BTG (Darren is one of the other drivers I went with last week :P ).

I was surprised that they were having rear braking issues on the Ring, as they were having them at Cadwell, so you'd think they would have sorted out a cockpit-operated bias valve or something.

Didn't even look like they'd fitted track tyres or brake cooling either.

I think Guy was frustrated that he couldn't go any quicker as a driver. I reckon Dale could have jumped in Guys van and knocked at least 30 seconds off Guys time though.

At least he wasn't trying a fast lap on a tourist day like so many do - although he might have been happy with a 12 minute lap on those sort of days when everything seems to be getting in the way and not using their mirrors.

I think he has quite a few projects on the go at any one time and never really sorts out ongoing issues ,a lot is left to the last minute and a bit amature even though loads of money has been spent.Good entertaining watch.

Loads of money is always a relative thing. He built the thing himself, with a few mates in his shed and drove it himself. Not exactly top gear money spent, let alone If a professional racing team had done it. He will no doubt be back with a few more more in the future. Though someone else might blow that time into the weeds before he gets a chance. :driving:

I thought that about his pikes peak challenge.
He waited until he got there before trying to sort out fuelling issues, surely it should have been done on a dyno before going.
