New series kicks off at 8pm tonight folks , Chl 4 , he's always worth a watch & still hoping the new TopGear lineup will see him in it at some point

Another great Guy Martin program

90 miles with an average of over 217mph :o

He did well, bloody hard to keep the average so close.

I enjoyed the show, nice easy watching on a Sunday, I find Guy very engaging and his enthusiasm is infectious. The build was cool (particularly as the tuners were local to me) and hitting 170mph in a transit is an achievement having done it all so quickly.

Wasn't the most exciting challenge for me though, it just didn't really seem to challenge Guy at all . The best episodes IMO are we have seen him 100% (and beyond!!) flatout and while out of his comfort zone....the hovercraft and go-kart episodes spring to mind

Enjoyed the show for the entertainment it provided but was really interested in the Transit build....wasn't aware of that particular Ford engine....must be a decent unit to run the boost to dyno just shy of 700.
It all looked an "easy" conversion with a lot of factory parts......that's on the wish-list when my lotto ticket gets lucky.

Sorry, meant the bloke who did it last year re the 217

Incredible. Was just looking at the results of this year's and the winner of the Unlimited class was clocked at 233.8mph http://www.silverstateclassic.com/event_results/results-16-norc.html in a Chevy Monte Carlo

Apparently used in larger US trucks and the new Ford GT. $10k for a crate motor in standard trim, now if they put it in the new Ford Edge that could be fun...

Holly Feck batman that's shifting on a public road. Great show.

I vaguely remember that....Cosworth DFV?? in an original transit complete with '70s carlos fandango wheels.
Wasn't it "branded" Supervan or something similar??

Only got round to watching this last night. Really good program; I am enjoying these Guy Martin shows he is just so enthusiastic and passionate and it really comes across that way on screen. I couldn't understand why they didn't just hire a car with the correct rolling radius to sync the computer instead of using that Mustang and guessing the rest? That transit reminded me of one I saw doing the Goodwood run a few years ago, he went a different way by mid-mounting an XJ220 engine in it: http://www.greatbritishsportscars.net/xj220-transit-van/

Hi, that wouldn't have worked-they already knew the rolling radius but it was the tyre growth at speed which knocked their calculations out
