Gutted! :(

That is mighty painful .... after you have done that you notice how often you use your toes as it hurts like mad everytime you stub them ever so lightly against anything, including the bed covers.

Good luck with that.

Remember we have traffic and living in a city centre with cruise control is about as much use as a ..... Well you know what I mean!!!
Well enjoying the more free roads is an option. Still gotta suck. Its never fun not enjoying your car.

Yeah that would be nice but I'd hate to have an accident and find that my issue with my right foot comes back and bites me in the bum!

Thanks all for the well wishes I've been trying to see how far I can 'push' it but just when I'm thinking I can walk a bit quicker the pain rips right through me so I'll be good for this week and next week I'll try to get back to 'normal' but I don't want to prolong my agony so I'll not go OTT.

But in better news the GTR is eventually finished after it went for its engine rebuild just over a year ago so hopefully picking that up next week! :)

I will do. Hopefully it will be soon :driving: I'm walking on it really well now but still a little pain, well a lot if I put happen to walk too quickly or over cobbles which is a hazard in Edinburgh and I've about 3 streets to cross to work with them :headbang: but otherwise I'm getting there.

Someone suggested I use my left foot......they don't know what I drive and how much I would be gutted if anything happened to it. Saying that they didn't say I couldn't drive but I don't think it would be looked upon as a positive by the insurance company.

Haven't you been given a Darko shoe (bears weight through the heel not toes)? You still won't be able to drive but at least walking should be more comfortable.

Nope. Got some pain killers, tape, scissors and some padding to strap them all up and together. According to the nurse waking is really good for it, not sure how but as I was wearing trainers they said that was much better than anything else as it keeps the toes together. I did think I may get some kind of walking aid.

I have been limping a bit but I'm now putting most of the weight on my heel and managing to turn my foot in slightly meaning I put all the weight through on to my big toe. I think some of the folk at work were hoping I'd be wearing a 'moon' boot as they called it.

It's amazing what's said to patients - this and the frequency of different fracture loci you mentioned earlier... It sounds like you would have been just as successful managing the injury yourself! Running trainers can be of use for foot injuries or post surgery as they are usually well-supporting, stiff-soled shoes with a soft upper that are fairly broad. However, off-loading your toes will reduce the risk of displacement and consequent pain +/- mal- or non-union.

Have you an appointment in a Fracture Clinic? If you have, ask them for a Darko shoe. You'll find walking much easier (or you can buy one from ebay). I don't know about NHS Scotland, but all fractures come to our clinic the day after the patient presents to ED.

I would have just managed it myself but some form needed to be completed at work in case of an emergency vacuation so I was made to go to the hospital to have it checked out. The pain and swollen toes and foot didn't make me want to

Was told what I knew that there was nothing that they could do for me apart from take the pain killers, keep them bound but not too tight and wear my running trainers that I was in and in 6 weeks it should be fine. Got nothing else but then I didn't go to A&E but to a 'minor injures' clinic at one of the nearby hospitals. Went in, it was dead, registered, taken straight away, then down for an x-ray and then confirmed I had broken toes and then had them strapped up and sent on my merry way. If I had gone to the A&E at the ERI it may have been a different situation and if I had gone at 4:30am when I was in absolute agony and couldn't walk or out any weight on it then even more so.

Wasn't given any appointments to return and was even told I could try getting back into running as soon as I wanted, just depended on how much pain I could take. I did decline doing that as of like them fixed a bit sooner.
