GUTTED! *AGAIN*

well tickle my nipples it works!!!! excellent - any way to make it a full screen?

Can't believe DVD works!!!

lol I'm guessing its a 'you learn something new every day' moment :) Yes theres a zoom function, i think by pressing the idrive right while playing, or perhaps clicking options, can't quite recall this moment...

Crikey... Took the Z into BMW for the rear screen element to be checked today. They've just called to tell me that they'll have to replace the screen entirely as the element on the screen is at fault. I'm a bit on the gobsmacked side as I hate the idea of anything like this being changed, the brute force required to change a screen and the worry that other damage may occur / rattles to ensue etc... flippin eck... all for a demist element... I'm like 50/50 on getting it done.

Similar happened to me on my last Z4 Coupe. The middle 2 bars didn't work. I had to have a new rear screen. They had to fit it twice as the first time they glued it in out of square!! Was a new guy did it!. Took it back and they sorted it though and all was fine after.

Get it done while it's in warranty. Imagine trying to sell it in the future saying that the rear screen heater doesn't work!! They are easy to get out if they have the right tools. They heat the glue up and it comes out. No force needed. On the E89 they may even replace the whole section of the roof!

You really know how to make a new owner feel at ease

I've spoken with them now, as you say, heat, remove, glue, replace, tape it in place to set for many many hours. How out of date am i with the need for lots of force (I remember being inside my old fiesta as a kid shoving out the windscreen with my feet!). Hopefully it will be aligned properly and no other damage is done, otw I'll go "proper mental" lol... On the plus side, even just after investigation, they washed, dried, hoovered and cleaned all glass. Which in this weather was very welcome :) I may take it in every week

Mines going in Friday as I have a small water leak from the top of the drivers door seal! Front corner where the roof meets the screen. Must be a water trap as it only happens when left wet over night and you drive off for the first 2 miles or so. Passenger window is fine? Been like it slightly since I've had the car, but it's got worse. :?

I have to keep on about the DVD player - it's brill!!!!!! And yes I shall resist temptation to get it worked to play on the Go!!!!

Owww... BMW need to keep the car for 2 days to sort the back screen... tram home then. I've not had it a week and I've got to part with it for two whole days... :(

Did you take it back to your local BMW dealer or the dealer that sold you the car?

Took it back to Williams Manchester (bought it from Halliwell Jones Chester). Main reason being I can walk to work from there.. lets hope they make a good job, rather two days in the shop and its done right than one day and its not right.

Yay my baby is back... washed and pristine once again.. Window looks super new, though my perfect eye isn't happy that it runs down to the left about 1-2mm. You can hardly tell, but I did stand there for a moment wondering if I should ask them to do it again, then I thought, its minor, they've made a very good job otherwise and if they do it again it could end up out by 2/3mm in another direction lol. I just need a fogged up window to test my new button now! (heated element it went in for) :)
