I was thinking that I would maybe change the front discs on the M this weekend, something to do and all that ...............
Holy s**t ........ Im looking at 500 quid plus a lot of change for the pair ....
Is that right , or am I looking in the wrong places ............. ????

Discs from ECP about £250, mine day in garage waiting to be fitted with yellow stuff pads front and rear.

I can only see pagid front discs there, £180 each, minus 25%

I know mine aren't far off needing replacing too. Probably all four, so I need to find some rears too.

I think they've realised they sell brake discs easily, so they've raised the price closer to dealership prices. I wouldn't be suprised if you can get closer by asking the dealerships for a discount.

Currently ECP are looking more tempting, at £136.80 per disc after discount. BMMiniparts are £136.67 plus vat :|

teammenracing - you might want to try friends of mine at http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk - ask for Colin or Alexa - a few forum members have got deals - especially on discs though not necessarily Ms - feel free to mention my name (Jack) - might get you a discount - mind they might charge you more . . . good luck

This sounds like a bit of a tangent, but i was looking at a lathe with a milling head attachment the other week, boy wanted 750 .....
Might just do that and dress the discs that are on the car, its an hours job at most when you have the tools.

The BMMiniparts price is only £8 per disc more than it was a year ago and is for OEM parts. That is still a really good price and you won't even get close at a BMW dealer IMO. As long as they have the parts in stock they are very competitive although if they order them in they are sometimes more expensive than discounted dealer prices.

Last month I replaced front and rear pads, discs and sensors. Including labour it cost £783 all in.

Blimey!
Sorry it's no help.. but you've cheered me up. BMW Bristol had put new discs and pads on mine prior to purchase. I'd been told it was a cheap replacement!

It could be worse - you could own a Nissan GTR....

Well latest news on this one........
Im back in country and have been downt to BMW ..............

New discs are 170 ech plus VAT which is about 400 total.

Which makes me ask why all the NON OEM discs ...... and discs from non BMW suppliers that I looked at were 550 plus.

Anyway ..... ordered, sorted......

Did you ask for BMW Car Club discount as well?

I usually get 10-20% off parts when I quote that (doesn't work everywhere though), and some sneaky dealerships claim the discount has already been deducted :headbang:

I shouldn't be surprised though, as some now claim the service/inspection price is inclusive of the FourPlus discount, even when they're 20-30% more expensive than the another garage in their own network with (supposedly) identical same labour rates for a job with fixed book times :x

£408 as opposed to £348 delivered from bmminiparts, OEM equipment in original BMW packaging. Personally I'd rather the £60 was in my pocket than in the BMW dealers.
