Took delivery of this bad boy this morning - can't wait to fit it at the weekend. I will post some before and after photos. (and yes that is a nacho in one of the photos!!!)


This leads me onto my questions;

When disconnecting the battery to unplug the air bag, do I just need to disconnect the postitive on the battery terminal for about 30mins before installing the new wheel?

And the other question is where is the best place to get the black inserts for the wheel? Or does anyone have any for sale?

The TIS says disconnect the battery lead and then wait 1 minute (for cars after 9/93, 30 mins for cars older than that). Most people wait at least 10 mins just to be really safe.
 
I've got a spare set from the standard wheel (left over after I fitted my MFSW retrofit) that could be painted black. You can have them for the cost of postage if you want.
 
£150 for the black inserts - that has to be ripoff of the century!!! Who is it I need to contact at Sopers BMW now that Joe has left? Mangozac, are they just the standard silver inserts with no button holes?

Yeah. I just remembered the screw boss for one broke off during removal but I can epoxy it back on for you properly. You'll have to buy screws too (there's four of them IIRC).
 
Thanks for the link - I'll look through that at the weekend. Does anyone have a contact for Sopers at BMW? Is that the best place to get the black inserts?
 
I think I might just use the silver ones from the old steering wheel - paying over £100 for the black ones are just stupid money!

if they can do it for £89, check with with Jamie @ Soper they probably can match that (always worth checking).
 
Just looked at that I think you need both parts??? I have an msport wheel but not buttons on the coupe and I wanted to upgraded to button ones, may have some standard black ones going soon!! if it is only 90 quid
