Guess the Exhaust.....

Good guesses, but no, it's actually no backboxes at all! I had to remove them for a day whilst the bypass pipes were being welded on, thought it might be a giggle to drive to work without them and video a bit of the journey. Once the childish novelty wore off (about a minute after this clip actually!) the low rev drone, Carbon Monoxide fumes and antisocial volume meant it was not a pleasure! Still, no harm done and it did sound good at WOT. The bypass pipes are nothing like this btw, not much different from standard.
I drove my old 911 3.2 Carrera up and down the road without a backbox when changing the exhaust and that sounded awesome, sadly it melted the foglight wiring though (!), so I made sure the M wouldn't scorch anything underneath.

The Nav has grown on me, but agree it's not exactly a detailed, high res experience!

Speaking Exhausts gwatson, do your back boxes drown out any of the GruppeM induction noises?

That's my last mod planned after the Eventuri and Aero Skirts but I don't want to lose that induction noise.

I sold the internal modified exhaust, but I have Stromung now (you may know what!)

Anyway, the Gruppe M compliments the Stromung nicely, but the exhaust does dominate which is not a bad thing.

If I had the choice of just one, it would be exhaust. I never for once thought I'd say that before trying both.

Stromung was on my list but I may try bypass pipes first.

Sounds as bad as my internal mod did!!

Good fun though (for 2 minutes as you say) :D

I thought the exhaust mod was a success.??

Didn't you do this...... http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=52845

That's a bumpy road... No wonder a lot of UK drivers complain of bad ride quality! Drove my RPI'd Z yesterday for the first time in a few months. Almost gave me a headache. Imagine without any rear pipes at all.

Also heard it from the outside yesterday, let a buddy drive it around for a bit. Don't usually allow others to drive my car. I can't believe how freaking loud it is. Seriously antisocial

I've never heard mine outside apart fro on video...

how did you like it from outside, did it sound Awesome or was u like.... hmmmm not the noise/tone i expected .

Heard it once or twice before. At low speeds and revs it sounds all bass, very antisocial, no rasp but lots of bass. At high revs it's a BEAST. All hell breaks loose. Highly recommended to listen to it at least once :P
