Guardian view of convertible drivers

I must admit that I'm concerned about people throwing stuff like rubbish, cigarette butts or worse, liquids, into the car.
It does make me feel vulnerable.....

Tough neighborhood!

I drive though one suburb that is dodgy to and from work, but I think I'm just paranoid from reading too much stuff on the Internet :D

In the UK we are told everyone is friendly in Australia have I been lied too! :o

If anyone said that to me whilst I was in the car I would just say 'it sure beats walking mate.' Or if they were in another car it would have to be something special for me not to inform him of how inferior it was :D But then its usually jealous people who do this, and so they are in rust buckets

Every country/state/city has its bad areas.... I've recently seen the term "chav's" in media describing some people in the UK?

Australian people have whats called the "tall poppy syndrome". People are rarely happy for other successful people. Instead there is jealousy, resentment and the belief that nobody should be better off (taller) than anyone else. (wikipedia has a good explanation) Whereas in the US, it seems that people are more accepting of successful people.

I've already experienced this with various comments made by friends and workmates when I first got zeddy. One person made what should have been a private discussion into a public discussion where my various toys were all metioned along with queries about how I'd paid for zeddy. (Ironically this guy is absolutely loaded money wise and despite driving a 10+ year old car, has been trying to decide which model ferarri to buy for the last few years)

Anyway, rant over.

I'm just over protective of my zed... :D

As usual these kind of columns focus on the stereotype which tends to actually only apply to the minority of owners.

This is my second sportscar so I wasn't too concerened about comments however when I got my first sportscar an MR2 (no hairdresser comments please) I was very conscious of what people may think or say about me.

Luckily I've only had possitive comments so far but I'm sure there will be a time when some chav shouts out some abuse.

Let's face it there are w**kers driving every kind of car. There are a million cars without either road tax or insurance or an MOT or all three, there's thousands of tossers driving around without a license or stoned on drugs and or drink.

This ass-wipe from the Guardian would be better slagging them off instead of airing his own sexual inadequacies on the flimsy pretext of telling us an Audi A3 convertible is really a far more macho car than a Z4. Please!!!!!
