Gtechniq C1 / Cquartz experiences

Has anyone used any of the nano-tech sealants such a Gtechniq C1?

Have been researching threads on autogeek and detailingworld, but first hand experiences would be great if anyone has anything to share? Just bought myself a Leon FR diesel mile-muncher and looking for a low maintenance solution.

I've used Gtechniq C1 on the exterior plastic trim that slips over the wiper arms and covers the wiper motor. Mine was starting to look grey and dull dispute using a number of so called plastic rejuvenating products which delivered limited long term effect. I cleaned the plastic trim first by giving it a good wipe using isopropyl alcohol before applying Gtechniq C1. My trim has lasted nearly 2 years, but could now do with another application to freshen it up. You don't need much of the product and a little goes a long way if applied correctly, which is just as well considering the cost :)

I have had gtechniq on most of my cars.. I have had the crystal serum on my last car and it was amazing.. If you snow foam your car, if you have this on then the snow foam don't even stick to it.. It cost me £600 to get the M 3 done but that was wheels off and sealed with the same stuff , also all the windows.. My z4 will be getting done for the winter, not that I will be using it like... It is a really good product

Did you not consider using it on your paintwork Swiftly?

I've never really considered using it on the paint to be honest, it was the plastics which lost their lustre very quickly and let the rest of the car down, this is where the Gtechniq C1 did the job for me by restoring the plastics to their original finish.

Was it definitely C1 you used swiftly, and not T1? I use T1 on my tyres and trim and it's excellent.

When the M4 turns up in September, I'll be looking to get C1 applied to the paintwork.

My bad  I've just checked the bottle and it says C4 trim and plastic restorer

Ah yeah C4, might also be getting some of that for the Leon. 2 fairly big expanses of plastic at the Bplillars and scuttle planel.

All feedback on Getchniq seems great....it's just such a leap of faith paying so much for so little, over a £ per ml with many of the products

C4 and C1 (as well as C5 for wheels) are all the same product. They have different labels and instructions.

I have used a myriad of super sealants, with the above included. C4 is my only go to for plastic trim. I use C5 on my wheels and exhausts. I use their G products on my windows. But C1 is not as hydrophobic as it used to be, sadly. You now have to top it up with an after product such as Exo or C2V3.

For application in our climate, I much prefer the CarPro products. Reload '15 edition is superb spray on wipe off. Their Finest or UK versions of CQuartz are brilliant to use too.

Thanks JAD,

I had pretty much made my mind up the cquartz would be the way to go. It seems much easier to apply, and I will order a couple of other carpro products while I'm at it.

Did you get Finest edition applied professionally, or do you have inside contacts? I'm guessing that in any case it is quite a lot harder to apply than the normal cquartz uk? (explaining why its for the pro's only)

The difference is the conditions required for application. A buddy from another forum is friends with a guy from carpro so gets new products. I used to do testing for a few companies too. Not what you know etc...!

You can't go wrong with the UK edition for our use. No harder than C5 to apply to wheels. If it was an aventador, I'd spend the £800 having a full coverage (wheels, glass, roof) from somewhere like Jim at WhiteDetails!!

I'd buy some reload while you're at it by the way. Excellent beading from a wipe on and off product. Hydr02 is also brilliant for almost touch less drying.

Thanks for your feedback JAD. I could easily spend £££ on that site!! I definitely want the DLUX plastic restorer. The kit on their site has cquartz and reload included: http://www.carpro.uk.com/cquartz-uk-edition-50ml-kit-w-reload/. Hoping 50ml will cover two coats of two hatchbacks.

Its going on my Leon and mates R32 first. At the moment my (black) Z4 has too many stone chips to go with a crystal lacquer IMO : it needs some filler products until I can get the chips filled in or chippex'd properly. Plus I want to leave myself something to wax and play with
