Gruppe M Vs. Eventuri

Looking at developing a carbon air box with CSL BMC internal filter, but would need alpha N tune, hardware below 1kUS, would anyone be interested in that? your choice of tunes., and you need to get the filter. :tumbleweed:

depends on a few assumptions.. but its a working plan in progress...

Although I spent 20 waxing area revealed and autosoled the life out of alternator as you will see it once box out and it looks crap and takes mind off the stunning intake :)

I have a slight delay on ordering mine, but will be investing in the Spring.
 
I saw where Beedub referenced my post on Zpost. For those of you in the UK, the exchange rate is even better. It's hard to believe you can get the intake for £407 (before any of your import fees, taxes, etc). The shop in Australia places an order with Gruppe-M in Japan and they drop-ship directly from the factory in Japan. Shipping to the US was 120 AUD. If it is the same price to ship to you, that would only be £60. Shipping was shockingly fast. I had the intake within a week of ordering it.

I really like the Gruppe-M, but I wasn't after any power gains. I wanted the sound effect. :D

For anyone that gets a Gruppe-M, I made a PDF of the installation, as the instructions from Gruppe-M were obviously translated from Japanese, and were not very clear. I hope this PDF helps.

Cheers Salty, I'm really not sure about the intake options. I'd love to hear/see them up close as I do think this is an area the car could really be improved. If anyone is in the SW London/Surrey/Middlesex area with one of these intakes and is willing to take me for a drive that would be great!
 
Will report back. Needs a before and after sound vid, might be able to help if I get various things right but off skiing next week so expect progress to be slow. Few comparisons here already so don't wait for my input....

It sounds pretty awesome.. I take it your car is an ///M? I know its hard to quantify but how much did it actually add to the soundtrack? I had an afe intake on my 3.0si and was slightly disappointed with it... even more so when i added a sports exhaust and it was barely audible in the cabin

Thanks. Yes, it is a 2006 Z4M roadster. I also have a Stromung exhaust on my car. The Gruppe-M intake is very present in the cabin, but it isn't there at all times. To really hear it roar, I do have to get the RPMs up in the 4-5K range. The sound is most present in 3rd and 4th gear under load. Driving around normally, it is quiet as a church mouse.

Same with the Eventuri / Stromung combo.

Exhaust is most prominent up-to about 4k then the Eventuri takes over.
