Grrr...wrong battery!

Posting to vent my anger :x

Needed a new battery for my work runner, a Citroen C4. It's in a position where it's hard to get to or see without removing lots of stuff so I had to go by information from the battery stores and Citroen forums about what type to order.

Buy a battery, spent some time getting the old one out and cleaning the engine bay up a bit whilst the new one was on charge, f**k me! Its a different size. I was advised a type 27 and its a type 96. My type 27 is 64ah and the old one is 72ah.

Not sure what to do but annoyed!!
 
Get it swapped at the suppliers postage expense. Their website gave duff advice so you should be good for a swap. I wouldn't put a lower rated one in.
 
Where's the best place to get ///m batteries? I'm sure mine will be lifex sometime, and BMW prob charge a fortune, I've heard there are some super lightweights out there...
 
ECP seems to be the place of choice and they normally have offers on. I think I'll need one soon. As IMmie has spent most of her life in a garage I think the battery has suffered. On a cold morning, or if shes been standing all week, if I put the ignition on and start up the nav screen closes while the starter motor is running then opens again.

Good advice I think Stuart. I have sent them a message.

I had the car since new in March 2007 so this battery lasted 6 years. This last really cold winter did for it.

My M battery is probably due for a change too Woots. I will look at it carefully first before buying one this time.
 
My ///M battery is the original one from new, and has 7 years and 84k miles on it. Use it or lose it I guess :poke:

Watch out for the lightweight/race batteries as they tend to not hold charge very well and will have fewer cold cranks in them before they leave you stranded.

There are some lighter batteries that have the same specs, but you're looking at about £400 for one of those.

That advice will only work if you purchased based on wrong advice from the sellers website (or call centre) if you ordered wrong based upon forums or other source it's your problem, although I'm sure at your transport costs they will exchange. Hope they swap as its an expensive mistake.
 
Well it said it was the right one for my make, model and year of car but it is not. I don't mind going halves or something on exchange costs, as they do say it is best if you can check the existing battery, but I couldn't.

It was buried under a cover at the back of the engine that I didn't have a clue how to get to. Had to wait for an opportune moment to have a crack at it which is why I pre-ordered it. It was only £56 total so not a very expensive mistake but a lesson.
 
Then they should send you a replacement immediately and sort out collection of the old one at cost to themselves, or refund you in full and collect/arrange post and packing if they cannot supply.
 
We went halves on the post for the replacement one, which I thought was the fair thing to do as I couldn't look at the battery to begin with, and I paid a little extra for the correct battery. They turned it around in a day so I felt this was good service. They were nice to deal with too. This was Battery megastore of Tewkesbury.
