Grrr... new windscreen time :(

Ah the UK roads and their many rogue stones have claimed another Z4 windscreen this morning  Bleedin van kicked up something and put a 1cm bullet hole right in front of the drivers view - didn't even see the thing coming but made one hell of a noise ow! :(

Autoglass (elephants insurance's approved screen replacers) assessed it and cannot repair as its got little cracks spreading from it and suggested a new screen is needed... only they are unable to sort out the rain sensor initialisation and the car would still need to go to bmw which didn't inspire me with confidence and sounded like hassle... In short after a little bit of explaining my insurer are now happy to pick up the bill for having a new oem screen installed at my local bmw dealer (£650 to average joe for the whole job), least I have good comeback and should be done to a high standard. Still have to pay the £70 excess but I think I've done well considering the situation, just need to book it in now.

Might be worth considering this approach if you have to go down this route with your insurers, its much better to deal with one place/company if problems arise at a later date.

Rain sensor initialisation? :?

Autoglass said nothing about that when they did mine. My rain sensing wipers still work fine....
Seems like an odd excuse. Maybe they've messed up so many installations that they're refusing to do any more

Having it done at a BMW place sounds preferable anyway, better comeback
