Group Buys- Gruppe - Brakes - Rogue- Vibratech

Probably an unmeasurable amount, 0.003bhp. :)

Have you noticed smoother or quicker gear changes? Sharper throttle feel?

The result of this is what performance tuning companies call drive line lash [source: Anthony Woodford Racing]. This means that when you hit the gas to accelerate and the engine produces the torque it needs to move forward, some of that torque is lost. The soft engine mounts absorb it as the engine shifts around, because that additional movement would cause uncomfortable sensations in the car's cabin. But if that wasted torque could instead bypass the cushions and move down the drivetrain to the wheels, it would result in the car putting more power directly to the ground. For some drivers, that increase in power is worth sacrificing a little comfort.

Could I ask everyone in this group buy who is definitely in for one of the for mention products let me know so I can ask Roy to check on order lead time. Ideally I would like to send out an email tomorrow or call him.

Please PM me your personal emails too and mobile numbers.

Many thanks

I originally fitted the Vibra-Technic engine mounts to try to eliminate shift denials that I'd experienced on track. Coupled with Amsoil gearbox oil, I've not experienced the problem since. :D :driving:

The thing that I really noticed about them though has been that they give a feeling like a suspension upgrade because the car feels "as one" without the engine weight transfer on cornering. I can't say I've noticed any difference to throttle response (and I do ECU datalogging too, which would show any difference).

IMO, these things are the best bang for buck for the Z4MC.

So glad this seems to be the general consensus. I bought a set of these a week ago (and *just* before this potential group buy was announced! )

Looking forward to getting them fitted!

Hi All,

I contacted Vibratech and they were not willing to offer a group buy but did say to give C&R Enterprise a call.

Spoke to C&R and a Group Buy price for 5 pairs of engine mounts is £198.98 inc Vat and postage. If we get more the price will be reduced further. This group buy on these would have to go through me as they require one payment / transaction. I therefore would need your money up front! Also while changing these mounts it is a good idea to replace the engine bracket bolts... BMW offered a replacement Bolt with a higher tensile rating.. Budget around £10 for these replacement bolts.

Hey All,

Some people have started to make payments to CA International for their various bits and bobs.

The quicker we get everyone's payments in the quicker the order will be placed with Gruppe. They are made to order I believe.

Exdos, I'm very interested in the Vibra Tech Group Buy but I had one nagging thought in my mind. If the new engine mounts stop (or greatly reduce) engine movement, is that weight transfer/force distributed anywhere else that might not be well equipped to deal with it?

Next question (apologies for the simple question) - how many pairs of mounts do you need?

Lastly, one other quick query - won't we need to differentiate between Road and Competition in the Group Buy? Assuming most will want the former rather than the latter.

OG, I'm sure you realise that the Group Buy has nothing to do with me.

The Vibra-Technic engine mounts work in a similar way to the Rear Trailing Arm Bush (RTAB) limiter kits: they both reduce the 3 dimensional movement of the respective bushes, and essentially restrict movement in 2 dimensions, only. The OEM bushes are technically "simple", whereas the RTAB limiters and VT mounts take the engineering to a higher level. As such, instead of letting the weight of the engine move about on the OEM mounts, the VT mounts keep the engine in the same place that it is when standing, and the rubber of the mounts is still able to absorb the vibrations but it is contained within the metal surround of the bushes, so that unwanted engine movement doesn't occur. With the "road" mounts, especially, there should be no downsides.

You need a pair of mounts (one each side). IMO, a suspension upgrade is mandatory, but after that the VT mounts are definitely the best mod for the Z4MC.

Thanks Exdos  Yes you are right, I knew it wasn't you organising the GB.

I've been thinking about the suspension too. I don't want to change much on the car but some proper suspension (I.e. KW, Bilstein or Schnitzer), as opposed to just changing the springs, along with these engine mounts, will I think, make the car just about ideal for how I use it.

Hi All,

The Vibratech engine mounts are through a different company. Doesn't seem a great saving to be honest but im happy to go through with it and organise. Postage from me to you will be on top.

They wanted the payment up front in one order so would require me paying for these and you guys paying me for them. I would then post them out to you all.

The other items Gruppe, Bushes and top mounts are all purchased through Roy at CA industries but mention my name which is Ian G to get the group buy price. Once all names are in and payment taken he will place order.

Think the Vibratech discount was only 10% and we needed 5 people to complete the group buy on them. We coul look at another company which I can call tomorrow and see if we get anywhere with numbers and price point.

I would only be interested in Road setup for bushes and engine mounts.

Original Gov your car is the exact spec I was after! Wanna swap?

Speak to Roy he will sort you out a great deal on suspension. He also had some great deals on exhausts if you are into that kind of thing.

So I'm getting Gruppe, Rear top mounts. RTAB kit.

At some Pont in the future it will be discs too but decided I want to put some winter rubber on the front this month.

So to be really clear... I need to call Roy at CA to order the RTAB limiters, and we're not doing a group buy on engine mounts as its not really worth it ? If so, I'll get on it tomorrow. As long as he doesn't need a copy of my card and driving licence

Hi Ian.
Just bought a set of Eisenmann race exhausts for my z4m coupe off Roy. He's good to his word and the cans sound fab (a little extra power and torque too)
Put me down for the gruppe m as well please.
Stoptech street performance pads would be a good purchase(can't afford a BBK yet)
Thanks.
Andy

Cool Just ring Roy and Pay him directly mentioning the Group buy and my name which is in Private PM

(Ian G)

You can pay via bank transfer if your against the extra security checks on a debit card. Or pay pal? He doesn't take credit cards either. If you would like to use a credit card to pay on for what ever reason you can set your funding in paypal to your credit card and that works too.

I am doing the Vibratech mounts separately I have 3 confirmed buyers for the Vibratech mounts so far and need 5 for the group buy. That 3 includes myself. Anyone else?

I heard the rear top mounts are vital for our car too so suprised not more people wanted these.

Just PM me if you want any help or advise.

Decent chap...

He really isn't! He's renowned for taking payment for items he has "in stock", promising delivery within the week. Once your cash is in his pocket, he'll then reveal the real 6-8 week delivery time. On one occasion, the price went up by 10% and no longer included import duty from the US. Having been effusively helpful before payment is made, he'll stop answering email and phone calls once he can't meet his own delivery promises. That he has a monopoly on imports for some overseas companies obliges people to use him and I suspect that's the only reason he has repeat custom. I used him twice before I learned my lesson and I've heard only bad things from other customers and indys / tuners alike. Caveat emptor.

I just called Roy to buy my group priced Gruppe M and he wouldn't take my money until he had the numbers in for the purchase.

Come on guys hurry up and confirm your order.

Only had two people phone Roy so far and that's not enough for a group buy. I just spoke to Roy and he said he doesnt want to take people's money if we don't have the required numbers for the group buy.
