Help!!! My car went in to the garage, for some work, in the process they re coded it, the window then stopped going back up when i shut the top and they didnt "auto" up from the switchs.

I performed the window reset, and its worked for the drivers side window, but not the passenger one! What am i doing wrong!? :x :x :|

I believe the passenger one will need coding by an indy, all to do with kids trapping themselves.

Finally got round to fitting mine today - soldered it in this time (and re-fitted the original / replaced the connectors) as recent mods mean it's starting to look a little cluttered now. Tidied up with a little loom tape and all working well :D

Solder it guys, but don't leave the power connected if using a mains solder.

Thanks, something I might not have done if you hadn't mentioned it

i had a horrible feeling someone might say that! Anyone know a decent indi in west sussex, preferably round Horsham?

Hi guys,
Jumped in the Z4 Friday morning and installed the module using the red scotch locks.
No soldering. Took about an hour.
It worked first time!

I need a little practice getting the button pushing timing down correctly.
Most of the time, the roof doesn't close because I didn't waiting long enough, I guess.
After a few tries, I finally get the timing sequence right and it goes up.

Also, it's nice that I don't have to hold the console buttons down anymore. I like that!

Any suggestions on the button push timing? :-?

Good Job, GapTech!

Just say "one, two" between each click. Well, perhaps not out loud but in your mind :D

I got back from holiday today; and my mother was kind enough to collect this from the post office for me!

I havent even unpacked.. but was too excited to fit this... didnt have a soldering iron at my parents place so popped over to maplins and bought a gas powered one, which was half price at £15.

1 hour later all done... love it - Cheers Gaptec... a great product and so easy to fit.

Trust you insulated it :)

yep... I only had grey electrical tape handy... so once i taped everything up it looked a little clumsy so I was too ashamed to post a pic of it

How much better is the Gas Soldering Iron? heats up quicker, no power lead in your way, no extension lead required. i bought 1 before doing my car too. oh btw i have a pic of the mid wire strippers too - these 2 items make electrical jobs soo much easier

My installation took 20 minutes. Recommend dumping the clips - use a scalpel blade to open each wire, without cutting through, for 3 to 4mm - a drop of solder on the wire - and add the wire from the gaptech kit. Three pieces of insulation tape and it's done.

Mild weather here (South Africa) means I very seldom do not drop the roof - this little kit is brilliant and worth every penny.

Tx gaptech.

did you disconnect the battery? Or were just very careful?

Probably should have, but i didnt want to lose my odometer reading... so left it plugged in.

As i used a gas soldering iron it wouldnt have been earthed... and the last wire listed in the instructions was the power.. so should be ok to leave the battery connected.

Leaving it connected is fine, as long as you don't use an electric solder iron.

With rubber tires as long as you don't ground the vehicle I wouldn't expect any greater issues with an electric solderring iron over a butane iron. Either way you need to be careful not to short power to ground with the metal body of the iron.

Afraid that's a bit of a myth, the tyres fitted to cars are not rubber, and are not electrically insulating. If they were the static build up would kill you each and every time you got out of your car after driving it. (Unless of course you have those cable things dangling from the rear bumper of your Ford Cortina like everyone seemed to have in the 80s!!)

That said, I am a little concerned with the previous page, namely having to get something or other re-programmed after fitting the unit.
I have one waiting to fit, (cheers Gaptech, v.quick delivery by the way, seemed to be delivered before I ordered it!) hoping to get to it on Friday, is me doing this going to invalidate my warranty in any way?

FYI - From America.....

Just in case anybody is wondering from the states-
I ordered March 24th and it arrived April 9th(that's only 9 business days!)
The install took about 1.25 hours(most of that time was pulling that damn tape off)
The instructions provided were awesome
I did disconnect the battery just to be safe(which means I had to reset the windows - no big deal)
I soldered and reconnected and voila....
Everything works like a champ!

Thanks GapTech :D

Finally got round to fitting mine yesterday, No issue's at all and very easy job :)

Just love the pose now droppin the roof before gettin in and pressin the button when i get out to close it and lock it again :D

plus when i leave it parked on the drive with the roof down i don't need to leave my chair to raise it back up :D
