Group buy - remote roof / remote roof one touch ** Closed **

received mine today, so i got a good chance to test my new gas soldering iron. the OTH+R worked perfect from the first test

had a bit of an issue removing the loom tape tho  I think that took longer then exposing and soldering all the wires

I currently have the reinhold remote module - will your one-touch module work in conjunction with it?

Yes.

If I read the forum correclty your "combined" unit is both functions in one unit. Is this correct?
What is the price for the OTH only vs combined unit shipped to New Hampshire USA? I like the idea of having one integrated unit that will do both functions (yes, I am anal!)

yes the combined unit is one single unit.

Prices are about 3 posts up

The OTH module (One Touch hood) is £49.99
The price for the RCH+ module (both devices combined into one) is £95.99

international postage is £9.99 for either unit. im pretty sure you can work out the rest from this info 8)

Thanks Hotride - after 23 pages I think my eyes glazed over! I think I'll be ordering the combined unit - as I posted, I like the idea that they will work together with fewer splices. That and my Reinhold remote module tends to be finicky at times.

Received my module today after paying for it on Sunday. Great service, thanks very much.
I have a question, how does it work? does it have a receiver?

Regards

No RF receiver. It receives and decodes the packets of data being transmitted across the buses by various computers scattered around the car. My module looks out for these messages and then performs an action when required.

Glad you like it.

Another happy customer - received, fitted and working great! Now just got to remember not to hold down the button when operating the roof

For the record, I soldered my connections then individually popped the wires/pins from the connectors so that I could place a length of heatshrink over each of the joins. I hate electrical tape - heatshrink is the only way to insulate! I couldn't believe how small the module was!

I just got my module in the mail all the way from UK to Dallas.
Will install using solder tomorrow eve and report back.
Thanks GapTech. :D

good effort! i was planning on doing the same, but it was dark by the time i finished soldering. and since the only light available was an led torch in my mouth, I decided to quickly tape it and put the console back together so i could re-connect the battery. would have preferred to do what you did tho  .

If you do decide to go back and finesse the install, there is one little trick. I don't know how familiar you are with connectors but each little metallic socket has a little tongue which pokes up slightly and keeps the cylindrical metal piece to which the wire is crimped from slipping back out. You have to make sure that the tongue is pushed down and stays down long enough to remove the piece from the plastic connector housing. I failed to do it right on the first one and after a lot of pulling ended up breaking the tongue off. Fortunately the connectors are such an awesome design that the outer plastic shell provides further locking for the pins.

Moral of the story: if a delicate part requires force to remove then you're doing it wrong! :o

Help!!! My car went in to the garage, for some work, in the process they re coded it, the window then stopped going back up when i shut the top and they didnt "auto" up from the switchs.

I performed the window reset, and its worked for the drivers side window, but not the passenger one! What am i doing wrong!? :x :x :|

Had mine fitted today, by an ex BMW Tech. Soldered, heat shrinked with push fit connectors (used on BMW alarm systems) for easy removal. Who the hell would want to remove this upgrade, I'm very surprised BMW didn't offer this mod as a £500 option, I suppose their H&S people advised against
