Group buy - one touch module

Wondermike said:
I'm amazed at how successful this group buy has been, I couldn't see a market for this at all, although I've only had my roof down once or twice in 6 months so I'm not really in the target market.

Just goes to show that a good product at the right price will sell like hotcakes.

Very reasonable price is the key to this one I think. One touch is very handy.

So Gary, can you make something that attaches to this device (i.e. receiver) that gives this unit the (16 second) pulse to open/close the roof remotely?

It would make the cabling again a doddle and there would be a great market for it.

I can't take much to make it a combined one touch/remote operation black box really can it.

Cool. Are you offering to run with this one?

I think the remote opening has to be more than that as it has to also deactivate the alarm, else it's a bit pointless. That's why modules on the market use the key fob with either a press and hold or multiple press system

I've spent the night testing my prototype of the remote hood with good results. There's still some technical issues in the firmware to resolve but so far so good. Then onto the PCB...

so ... next week? :D

Where would it need connecting to ... I hated fitting the previous unit underneath the glove box, so would like to avoid that one ...

I can see why the other one is done like that and it may be the only way but I'm still looking into avoiding it if I can.

The point I was trying to make although not very clearly  was that we have two reinhold modules that carry out both tasks. I can't see it being that hard to make one module that does both using the remote to unlock the car and activate the roof as there must be some shared circuitry. From memory there is only one wire running under the glove box, the other 2/3 connect in the centre console like the one touch.

It's just a thought from a simpleton.

Hmm - decisions, decisions. I'm still on the verge of jumping on board with the one touch now its nearly the end of the month.

But ... this remote roof you are talking about ... thats what I want most. Any chance of a combined unit? And if not, would one postage charge cover both?

I'm aiming to manufacture two models, one that is just the remote, and another that does both remote and one touch.

I'm holding out for the remote module too. I had the Reinhold module fitted to my E46 M3 vert and it was a great piece of kit, just a bit pricey!

Will be watching the progress of this new module eagerly!

I hope we are not being penalised by buying the one touch first and that the additional remote module combined costs would be the same as the single unit?

My concerns exactly. It is the remote I am most interested in, and a dual unit would tick all the boxes.

It all comes down to cost I suppose. I think I'll hang on and wait for the dual unit although, any idea of timescales and anticipated cost of this?

don't worry about having to buy another module, the one touch is great value
I am sure the remote will be also.

If woried about the price, try & develop your own & see the costs escalate
All th cars on here are 10k + so whats 40 quid

how many christmas presents of that value are sitting around unused ?

keep up the good work

I wouldn't worry, £40 is not the biggest loss in the world, and mine is available for use now whilst I am waiting..

I'm hoping to have the products ready for April/May but there's still a lot of development to do so it's difficult to say exactly.
These modules will use more expensive microcontrollers that have the additional features required and along with other expensive parts including BUS interface devices and double sided assembly PCBs the Initial costings done are indicating pricing of around £130 for the combined unit and £90 for the remote unit.
As gookah said, buying the One Touch module now gives you the advantage that you can be using it whilst waiting for the remote unit to be developed.
Cheers guys.

Cheers for that. I may well add my name to the list then.

Looks like I wont be out of pocket either way.

Just need to finish mt Latte and then decide

Postie came with mine 20minutes ago and it's already fitted, very easy detailed instructions and a great piece of kit. Well Done that man for bringing it to the table.

Mod of the year.
