All we need now gookah is some decent weather so we can enjoy it eh. :driving:

Roof has been down again whilst driving today...as usual :driving: , the only time it went up was trying your module. well up and down, up and down, etc etc. I used the Scotchloks first just to try it and they performed fine, but I like to solder connections personally.

you even get a mention in the signature now
i thought you don't have to cut the existing connections?? :?
??

Any particular reason you want the connectors disconnected during the installation? It is harder to disconnect them then to leave them on and just work on the wiring.

There's no electrical reason. I was just concerned about the centre console moving about during installation and either scratching something or worse maybe the loom getting damaged with all the flexing.

I already answered that one ...

You don't cut them, you add contacts to them.

You can either use the blocks to add the new cables to the existing ones or solder the new cables onto the existing ones.

Just took the centre bit out and nursing very sore fingers trying to get the connectors off :) Once I have feeling in my hands again, will go back to the car and put the connectors on.

**edit** - got the connectors off once I had feeling in my fingers :)

The loom is pretty long and the whole thing is dangling on the side at the moment ...

(oh - and I have a towel stuck between to prevent damage)

Ok - put it all on, did not work

Normal operation still works, but I still need to hold the button for both up and down.

Will take it all apart again after dinner, putting the cables back in the opening is rather tight so might have dislodged one I suppose.

probably a Scotchlok not cut through the insulation,

Agreed. Just annoyed with myself not testing it as I found putting the switch back a bit fiddly.

Will take the scothloks off and get my gas solder out to solder the connections.

Note for anyone else - don't tighten the screw too much as the closing flap won't stay close :D

You don't have to cut them, you just crimp the red connectors into the existing wires and they should make contact through the insulation into the copper core.
I find that these connectors over time tend to loosen on the wires and the contact is then a bit iffy. Or sometimes they don't cut through the insulation on the wires in the first place. Thats why I just choose to strip back a bit of insulation from the wiring then solder the new wire to it and then insulate with tape. Never need to go back to them then.

The red connectors should be OK .....

Correction on the documentation ... to strip 100 cm of the cover, that is 1 metre

Still meaning to buy one but need to wait until I get paid next week - been an expensive month due to a lot of work related courses and a trip to Paris in 2 weeks!
