I'm going to try and fit it before the other half finds out. She'll go mental if she knew I paid 100 quid for something so small.

She doesn't worry about wanting a tiny engagement ring that costs a bomb though
Women!

Mrs smartbear also thought this was very expensive for what it does, I only had to mention her enormous shoe collection and she went quiet!

Installed mine today - I'm not mechanically minded so I approached with a little bit of trepidation, but it was (realtively) easy, took 30 mins and now works a treat. Thank you Mr GapTech.

Fitted mine today. All soldered took 30 mins. Works perfectly. For those wishing to solder...only the thick red wire and thin white/red carry 12v. Soldering with the mains iron does not short it or cause fault codes.

Fitted it this evening, awesome bit of kit!

Had a slight problem after fitting (it didn't work), so went back through the scotch locks and pushed them in fully and it works perfectly.

Just the bit with the ash tray and roof buttons.

Hardest bit for me was getting the bloody tape off!!

Also like Ben, I didn't push the scotch locks hard enough at first (worried about cutting the wire) so had to go back and push them flush to make it work.

Really isn't hard though - I mean, even I managed it!!

Loom tape is the work of the devil. Used a sharp knife and was worried about cutting through the wires, slipping and marking the dash or slicing my finger off

Its not working. I have checked all the wires are right and the plugs are fully locked. Still no luck.

Sorry to hear about your problem.

Each module is tested by connecting it to a dedicated test fixture just before it is shipped so I'm confident it is working.
I suspect your problem is either due to a connection problem or an operation problem.
Can you please check the connections first as this is by far the most common reason for a module not working after installation.
Please ensure that the blade of each connector is fully pushed all the way down using pliers or something similar, it also help sometimes if the last 5mm of the module cable is folded over to double its thickness before it is inserted into the connector and the blade squeezed down.
You should also confirm that your cigarette lighter is working properly as the module gets its power from this circuit – if the cigarette lighter is not working then maybe its fuse has blown.
The continuity between each module wire and each loom wire could also be checked using a multimeter and just piercing through the insulation of each wire using sharp probes.
If the connections are confirmed then maybe is it a timing issue with your key fob clicks, there should be 0.8 to 1.5 seconds between each click.
To open the hood click Open, Open, Open.
To close the hood click Open, Open, Close.
To operate the One Touch feature the roof button should be pressed for >0.5 seconds whilst the ignition is on.

Please let me know how you get on.

Mine was working last night but didn't work today. I checked all the scotchlocks and all looked fine, so got the pliers out and squeezed the blue one tight, then it worked fine.

think I'll end up soldering the wires together as the bumpy ride could cause the connectors to come loose again.

epic bit of kit though.

Finally got it working. I literally had to crush the blue connector. Double handed on the pliers to get it to work. Works great now though
