Ground Clearance... Problem!

I did see a label hanging off the spring actually now you mention it, but there was no BMW badge on it that I could see?

Would it be worth me taking it to my local Indy to Check it over for me? (last time I did that with a '51 plate 318Ci it was condemned and they quoted £2500 for work that they said NEEDS to be done. Lasted me 3 years with minimal problems and past every MOT)

Maybe the BMW logo is not on the label... But if it has part number on it then you could try googling that ? My old sport springs are in the garage... I will check for labels & part numbers at lunch time.
 
Stock springs will have a little sticker thing on them... the stickers on mine were green,. but i have seen older springs have white stickers.

Eibachs have writing in white on them, and are black.

Maybe they are H&R which are lower then eibachs, and have no labels on them.
 
Part numbers from my old sport springs :

Front : 31 33 6760623
Rear : 33 53 676##36

The rear labels were very dirty / torn, hence the # symbols as I can't make out the numbers. They were fitted to my 3.0Si Sport.

The labels don't have the logo, they do say 'BMW Group' on them though.
 
Ok somive been rushed off my feet with work this past weekend so I haven't had chance to jack it up and get the wheel off again BUT I have noticed on quick inspection that there are no rear springs at all??

Is that normal? Does that help with working out which ones they actually are?? :?
 
They must be there - but they will be very hard to see with the car so low. If there weren't any in place you'd know all about it. I guess they could both be snapped, so shorter, but you need to get a jack under it and whip the wheel off :thumbsup:
 
Thanks Bing, I have put aside a couple of hours on thursday evening to try and solve this problem so the wheel will be off and I'll report the findings on here. :crazydude:
 
Ok so I have found a part number for the front springs... 676062
But there are no labels on he rear springs (which do exist), I have taken pictures and will gt them up in a second.

So the fronts have the right part number it would seem. I have no idea about the rears - cannot tell from those shots. Without part numbers I am not sure what you do. Curious blue marks, probably mean nothing though...

I read on a previous thread he this forum that coil springs for the M sport suspension apparently have green marks painted on them.

It's a strange situation, my curiosity reached new levels at the weekend and I parked it side by side with my neighbours supposedly factory sports suspension Z4... It looks so much lower!

The fixing of the under skirt has helped a lot but still catching the odd hump and mainly scraping the front bumper on ramps... But I guess I'll just have to live with it for now and drive cautiously on any surface other than freshly laid tarmac.

those blue marks on the springs means they are the sport suspension. mine were the same, although your's looks quite a bit lower.
