maybe its a north south divide, like i said in my my first comment, i think i am on a reasonable salary but looking at these results i am definatel 1 of the poorest on here
It's not what you earn, it's your disposable income. Some will earn high but have high outgoings (big mortgage, private schools, second houses). just because you earn less, doesn't mean you have any less.

Yep, when you consider that i add considerable freelance earnings and believe it or not fair profit each month from gambling, plus my set monthly outgoings of £250max I have more than probably a fair few

As people have said, it's not income per se but disposable income that counts - large mortgages, ex-wives and child maintenance payments can eat up huge chunks of post-tax income and sometimes people who you think should be quite well off have less in their pocket than the average early-20s worker who lives at home with mum and dad.
Thats the scary thing. Even if you were earning 200k circumstances can strike like a bolt of lightning and your back in a bedsit with a pot noodle.
I'm only 34 and earn great money but im too paranoid to be extravagant with it. A second hand M is about as fancy as i will get as i want my future to be as comfortable as possible.
Future generations will be much more thrifty i reckon, accepting of a 70+ retirement age and will have ceremonies or agreements instead of marriages that carry legal implications. I see a brighter future - Like a starbucks loophole, man shall get a divorce and keep his ///M
