Looking at installing my recently purchased Grom however, the current iPod interface looks like it was done at the factory. What do you guys think and will it be a major ball ache to install it?

That was fitted later on. Same conn3ctions as the original dension that I had.

You can probably remove the white plug and replace with the other one that’s sitting there. If you have BT or nav you might need to take a couple of wires out of the plug that’s connected and move them to the other one.

It should all make sense if you trace the wires from the MP3 interface.

It looks like you have the GROM cable to connect in place of the CD Changer. Does the long black cable with white connector and black coneectors at the other end say 'BMW-T' on it ? If so, the T is for Trunk ie to connect to the CD Changer wiring in the boot.
If you want to coonect to the back of the radio, you need a 'BMW-S'. Info plus installation instructions here when you scroll down the page:

The grom can be connected to where the changer is, but the iPod interface would still need to be removed and original wire re connected. The bmw and dension interfaces disabled the cd changer.

Thanks Hutch - might need to buy the tools to remove the pins from the plugs and possibly new pins too. Might be one of those jobs best left for an expert!
