GROM BT‑3 on 2004 Z4 3.0L – no audio, any advice?

Hi everyone,

I’m a bit of a newbie trying to install a GROM BT‑3 (CD-PREP-wide) on my 2004 Z4 3.0 L (E85) and I’ve hit a snag:

• I’ve got the 3-pin CD-PREP connector in the boot.
• I’ve plugged the BT‑3 3-pin connector into it.
• Bluetooth pairs and track info shows on the stereo, so the data side seems fine.
• No audio at all.

It’s the plastic mould plug into Grom. I’ve noticed there’s a small noise filter in the kit (not sure if that matters).

I’d really appreciate any advice or tips from anyone who’s done this before.

Is your system a higher spec amplified car with speakers behind the seats?

Yes 10 speaker set up with this amp

I’m fairly sure the grom isn’t compatible or needs a different adapter to work with the higher spec systems
