Grinding noise, rear passenger wheel

Would appreciate some help here pls.

When I start driving, there is a metal like grinding noise coming from the passenger side rear wheel. It happens at low speed and seems to go away at speeds above 10mph or so.
Also, after a while of driving. Let's say 20 minutes or so the noise goes away. So it doesn't happen at low speeds by this point.
But if the car is parked for an hour or so, the noise comes back.

The noise doesn't get worse when I brake. So I'm guessing it's not worn pads.

Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you

Have you tried leaving the car parked for a while without the hand brake on, chock the wheels. Heard on here that the hand brake can stick on causing noise.

I’d say it’s probably handbrake shoes sticking on that have now run out of friction material

Thanks gents!

Going by process of elimination, this one seems to make the most sense.

Started off thinking it was rusted brake disc :D

Is it a costly fix? I'm thinking I could change the brake discs at the same time

If you go autodoc on the app when they are giving anywhere over 35% discount it will be super cheap

Prob £20 for unbranded discs, pads around the same and similar for shoes

Cheers matey!

I will try to find a local indy and see if they will allow me to supply the parts
Whereabouts are you?
Could be someone nearby who would help. It's a pretty straightforward job.

I had a similar thing where I would hear a noise from the rear wheel at low speed. My indy diagnosed it as a loose pin from the hand brake shoe assembly. At low speeds it just gets thrown around within the assembly, and I guess at higher speeds it gets forced to the outside by centrifuge, hence only hearing it at low speeds.
Think it was one of the pins in part number 34410410823.

Thanks enuff, I'm in Bermondsey, Central London

Cheers Wavy, it doesn't sound like anything has come loose.

But I shall try the leaving handbrake off trick next time I go for a drive. Then I should know for for sure

So I managed to test leaving the handbrake off today. Looks like that's the issue!

Thank you all again, for helping to resolve
