Hi everyone,

Just joined the forum and it seems that the polite thing to do is to say "hi".

I'm seriously considering getting a Z4 coupe in the near future. I've been running a 330D M Sport for many years now, and I just love it, so it will be a reluctant parting when she goes to make way for a zed. Although I guess the zed will more than make up for it. (I am secretly planning on dragging my feet on the sale of the 330DM just in case wifey ends up letting me keep it).

I drove a 2.5i z4 roadster on test a few days ago. I'm not really a convertible fan but I liked it a lot, although there were a few niggles with that particular car that put me off. Mainly, the 2.5i didn't feel as fast as my 330D, plus the roof rattled like bl**dy hell. And it wasn't a coupe of course :).

The bottom line is I just love the looks of the Z4 coupe, business has been good last couple of years, so have decided to stretch my budget accordingly (just need the government to pay a few of my outstanding invoices...lol).

Cheerio, have a nice day everyone.

Stuart

Hi and welcome, good luck with your search, shame you are going for the lesser model

I'd recommend checking out another convertible. A 3.0 to be exact. It could have been that particular z4 that you had problems with. Come to the drop top side. We have wind and sun :poke:

Welcome to the forum. Just remember if you go with a coupe your going to be driving a moving shoe

don't let the pram pushers change your mind, stick with the better lookig coupe :)

Welcome  My advice.. Go test drive another roady (maybe a 3.0 as mentioned above) with the roof down and you'll soon make your mind up! Happy hunting :driving:

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Seems I have hit upon some friendly coupe v roadster rivalry 8). I have to say I'm not dead set against the roadster as such ... but for a forty-something it does have that "mid life crisis" tag that the coupe doesn't (this according to a 21 yr old female acquaintance). And, as an introvert, not sure how I'd feel driving "topless" (shudder). I won't rule out a roadster then, assuming the roof rattles are not normal.

That said, the coupe *is* drop-dead-gorgeous.

Cheers :)

I went from exactly the same previous bmw to the coupe. Haven't looked back since. It has a presence that the 330D could never compare with. Don't get me wrong. I loved my 330D M Sport but the coupe is just better!

Thanks for all your good wishes everyone. Hoping to start my search in a couple of weeks, which is annoying as there's two coupe's on my radar that I would have right now had my customers paid even close to on time. :headbang:

Roundozo - thanks for your message; I was worrying whether I would miss the 330DM too much. Like I say, not going to sell her until after I have a replacement, so might drag my feet a little....

Happy motoring everyone

A blessing in disguise perhaps.. In a couple of weeks there may be the roadster of your dreams up for grabs

Definitely try a 3.0 roadster. I came from a 330i to Z4 life a few years back and it was awesome and more than a match. It will then come down to aesthetics. Had a coupe and another roadster too albeit in M form and its horses for courses really.
