Hi all,

New Z4 owner here, based in Somerset UK.

I picked up a battered and broken 2.5i last week for a project car. It has no major mechanical issues, just lots of small niggles that need some TLC.

Looking forward to restoring it. :)

Hello and welcome to the nut house . Now it seems that this always has to be said :worthless:

Welcome to the forum, and good luck fixing up your Z4.

Did anyone mention photos yet?

Thanks for all the welcomes!

The site has already been super useful, nice to see an active community outside of Facebook.

I’ve been having some “fun” with my roof.. Roof motor was dead, so I relocated and replaced it. Hydraulic pin was seized, so I lubed it and got it working. Micro switch lost it’s lever, so I fixed that too… But still the roof won’t go flat. Don’t get me wrong, a week ago the roof wouldn’t even move, so huge progress, but I am running out of search terms! 😂

Anyhow, if I get stuck, who is the go to person in the SW? It’s not at all urgent, but nice to have options!

If you get stuck "Number5" in the Bristol area is the nearest roof motor guru to you.

Once you have made 3 posts you can send Private Messages - he may be able to offer some tips.

Thanks mate. 👍

Very poor pic to show willing before I get a chance to do some better ones!

Hi the roof motor on my Z4 has failed and I suspect it’s sitting in water, seized up . On a previous post I saw a guy called Diet Coke Man in Bucks who would be nearest to me . Is he still doing these repairs and if so how can I contact him ?

Hi Robbie and welcome to the forum.
Tbh you would have been more visible to start a 'newbie' thread, but as we're here now.........
Not sure if Dietcokeman is still around.
Your other options are to speak to Ross at RBM in Hook (Bowser134 on here), or Stuart [ref]bigwinn[/ref], who is near Lincoln. Bit of a trek but I know he's a dab hand at these now.

Thanks - sorry but new to the forum as you said - also the steering on my 06 plate seems a little sticky - is this a common problem? It’s when you are driving in a straight line just feels slightly stiff?

Use the 'search' function and just put in sticky steering. Hours of reading there. It is a common issue but not an insurmountable one.

thanks enuff_zed - how do i get in touch with one of these two guys and is there any guide price for this work ?
Been reading up on the steering as you suggested - quite a challenge - would either of them be able to do that as well ?

Robbie, here's a link to Ross's business in Hook:- https://www.rbmhampshire.co.uk/

He worked for Sytner for 15 years before he set up his own business so he ought to be able to do any work your Z4 needs.
