Hi folks,
I've been browsing for a while now, finally bought my car at the end of August so long overdue a post.
2003 3.0 in stirling grey and black interior, 65k on the clock and generally outstanding condition except for one stone chip on the bonnet.
Has a cat back aftermarket exhaust fitted which makes a lovely noise complete with subtle pops and bangs, but no motorway drone. It has mesh lower and upper grills which I didn't like at first but have now grown on me.
Has some of the options I was looking for (heated seats, Nav, 10 speaker DSP stereo, nice alloy options, yes it has cupholders
) and some missing (xenon lights, folding mirrors, cruise control, less boring interior colour) but given the mileage and condition I didn't want to pass it up.
Since buying I have completed the following:
- replaced all badges (they had been swapped for red aftermarket badges all round - yuck)
- fitted stubby aerial
- fitted gap tech
- fitted ZHP M-sport gear nob
- fitted cruise control
- fitted new BMW mats which my lovely wife bought for my birthday!
- bought Carly, coded the car to my liking, still gently weeping at the price
- mini service (oil, oil/air/pollen filters)
- bought 2 new coded flip keys from BM Keys in London - outstanding service received from this chap (sent my module through the post)
- updated nav software and bought most recent map DVD
- refitted original airbox (had induction kit fitted, sound was ridiculous)
- removed both foam pieces from sound generator. Awesome.
- applied leather treatment to seats and door card
On my to do list are:
- brake fluid and coolant change
- get local garage to tweak exhaust fitment - it occasionally knocks
- possibly change whatever fluids are then left that I haven't changed (gearbox, diff - anything else?)
- roof motor relocate (already in contact with Number5 in Bristol)
- new number plates (mine have a BMW badge on them, look a bit naff)
- new third brake light - has a small chip. Possibly change to clear.
- clear indicators
- definitely not think about fitting a supercharger
- possibly fit a GROM, need to read a bit more about it (my phone connects to the standard bluetooth but doesn't do anything - assume this is a known issue with modern Android phones from a quick search). I have a aux lead fitted to the CD changer port but want a basic MP3 solution that doesn't involve plugging anything in each time. Post facelift NAV unit may be sufficient.
Really enjoying the car so far, completed a round trip from Bristol to Birmingham last week (around 200 miles) and it was perfect - surprised how civilized it is with the roof up on the motorway. Did the whole journey back with the roof down
Nice friendly forum you have here.
