Hello!

Figured that I should introduce my self as if all goes to plan I will soon be a E85 Z4 owner .

Currently own a 99 MX5 and whilst it's tons of fun I've grown weary of the constant rust issues which plague these cars.

However, still very much enjoying the two seater convertible life hence why I'm looking to upgrade to a zed :D.

I have done some research, looked at the buyers guide so feel like I'm pretty prepared. That being said if you had to give one tip to someone buying a used (and probably fairly high miles considering my budget of ~£5k) 2003/4 model what would it be?

Can't wait until I make my purchase and then hopefully come out and meet some of you all, seems like there is quite a few owners in the Cotswold area?

Cheers

Hi welcome along. The zed is a bit different to the mx5 i really like them both.

I am in Witney just outside the Cotswold. I go to a few meets and i am also happy to meet up for the odd weekend drive.

Welcome...beautiful part of the country, I lived and worked in Moreton In Marsh for several years and still have friends in Chipping Camden, look forward to seeing your zed when it finally lands

Thanks guys! Yep lovely part of the country, have only been here a few months. Still many roads to explore, sounds like a task fit for the new zed when I finally get one

Hi Nathan
Welcome , and I concur a beautiful part of the country. I used to live and work there back in the late 80's and early 90's also in Moreton in Marsh( do I see a link there Mr Tourette)
It was always a wish of mine to tour around in an open top sports car so I'm halfway there now just have to organise a trip.. Roll on the summer hope you enjoy many hours of happy driving.

Hi Nathan welcome along. We sometimes do a lap round the Cotswolds on a nice summers day, its a nice place to be

Welcome Nathan.
My advice if your'e looking around that budget would be dont get hung up on the mileage, if everything else on the car ticks the boxes. The engines are solid as long as they've been serviced regularly.

Find the right colour, spec and condition, as you will have just as much fun looking at it and cleaning it as you will driving it.

Thanks for the warm welcome all! :D

Yeah I've been mostly avoiding ones past the 100k mark, but maybe I shouldn't be.

Welcome to the forum Nathan. One tip for buying 03/04 Zed would be a good comprehensive service history.

Welcome, this is the best time of the year to buy if you want a Z.

Thanks! Yep that's why I'm looking now. Also the worse time to sell my 5.. Swings and roundabouts eh.

Hi Nathan

Welcome aboard

Where in the Cotswolds are you ? as I'm on the edge of the Cotswolds on the outskirts of Evesham.

You should be able to find something decent within your budget, especially this time of year. Try to hang our for a 3.0 litre model if you can. Surprisingly economical and enough grunt when you need it :)

Thanks Ray!

Currently living in Cheltenham, the heart of the Cotswolds. Or so I'm told...

Really going for the 3.0 litre model if I can, surprisingly nearly identical on insurance compared to the 2.5. Sadly the 3 litres are much harder to find! Market is flooded with 2.2s.
