Greetings from Asbury Park

Hello Gents..I live in NJ, I have had 3 series Bimmers since 2000,

Just got my first Z4.. from a dealership in Asbury Park NJ..thus the Bruce Springsteen album intro.

I bought a low mileage, 6 speed auto ..2005.. this is my first auto trans. car ever. in my life.

Good used Z4s fly off the lots here..
I have been looking for the 'right' car since Feb..

I had to take 'manual shift only' out of my search criteria.
Black on Black, a lovely well maintained vehicle with all service records.

I can't seem to keep my skinny arse out of the cockpit. :)

Wow...and I thought driving automatic was part of the US Constitution!
Welcome on board! I hope you'll enjoy your new car as much as we do here. Let us know your feeling on the auto trans, I think they are great

thanks gentlemen, ..
for the warm welcome...
I have an issue with the auto top..I think I have figured it out but the dealership will fix in free of charge..I have a written promise from them..and an appt. on Tuesday.August 9th.
Another issue started yesterday..about every tenth or 12 th start all the electrics work but the battery will not turn..no crank whatsover.

I take the key out, put it back in and it turns over..
I read it could be anything from a bad key, fuse, starter etc.
Try another key, some say... but right now I only have one..the dealership is covering the cost of a new one when I take it to a local BMW dealership to have a new one made.

Hope after these two issues are over, I HOPE I will have relatively free sailing...
I really love this car.

Welcome Bruce....er I mean Gringo. You might need botox to alleviate the permanent grin one gets when pootling about in the Zed. Enjoy!

Welcome to the Forum. Looking forward to pics of your new P&J. If you can get your butt out of the drivers seat long enough to take some. :driving:

this is working out too well...back to the drawing board... :o

Hello guys...just a note to let you know that my immediare priblems were sorted out by the dealership..
They repaced the roof hydraulic pump with a new one...not top quality but it works fine for now.. no charge..

They also replaced the starter..not OEM , a cheaper 'Prostart' with a year warranty..again...no charge...
They paid for an extra key..my insistence for the deal to go through...
through Princeton ( NJ) BMW @ a cost of $265.00..
the dealership threw in a new set of Z4 floor mats for my troubles..
knockoffs to be sure sure...but Hey, it was a nice gesture on their part.

I had my Tech put the Zed on the lift..plenty of brake left..no leaks...bushings are going to be needed later on..lower ball joints too..he did them on my 325i. Strong motor..all service records..
I bought a car cover to keep the rain water out of wheel well and wrecking the new top pump.
My Zed is an impeccable, garage kept, triple Black Beauty...low miles for a 2005 2.5i.... 72,000... never hit, straight...top is excellent...
Happy to report to you Gents that things are going swimmingly after a month + of ownership.
love this littlle Monster..took pics of it and compared it to like pics of my dear departed Black 1961 MGA 1500...that I drive from my teens to mid twenties..
Loved that car too. :D
cheers,
Gringo Starr.
