Good evening!
Having just bought a 2006 2.5 si Sport, I thought I should join the forum for some advice!
First thing, I am guessing these are not standard wheels. Any idea what they are? The steering wheel appears to have an Msport marking. Is this correct for the car, or has it been changed?
I pick the car up on Saturday, but it was a hoot to test drive today, much quicker than the 2.0 I tried at the weekend
The 1 thing I know is missing is the wind deflector. Are these a must have for open top driving?
Nice looking Z4 you have bought. As yours is a 2.5Si Sport the M badge on the steering wheel is correct - it's also a thicker rim than you get on an SE model. Plus you get the M-Sport seats which yours has, and which are very desirable!
Sorry I can't identify those wheels, but they definitely aren't standard!
I got a wind deflector soon after getting my Zed. For me it was too windy above about 50 mph and at motorway speeds it was unpleasant. Deflector, even my gimp-style one, makes a huge difference.
Can't help with the other questions, but I bet that others will provide answers before bedtime!
Hi and welcome
Car looks great, not many sleeps now
As RickRob said above, deflectors more effective at higher speeds, BMW mesh ones can be picked up on here or E-Bay - not cheap though
I've heard the solid perspex ones can cause some buffeting - others may be able to confirm/deny
Radio is not OEM but you probably knew that
Is the deflector really missing? - there are storage clips for it inside the boot lid - have you checked it's not there?
Welcome to the forum, sounds like all your questions have been answered - I'm sure you'll have lots more once you've picked it up. Nice looking roadster
Goes like a scalded cat and the sports exhaust sounds great - except at half throttle and low revs, when the drone is quite intrusive.
Ride is fine on good roads, but 10 miles of 45 year old concrete on the A46 was not fun over the joins every 40'...
The car has plenty of history, with new brakes and tyres last year - about 5000 miles ago, no other major issues reported.
FOUND the wind deflector! Thanks to @obewan for the hint. Not sure how I didn't spot it originally, but possibly it wasn't there when I viewed the car.
One minor niggle, the windscreen wipers occasionally don't stop running if you do the flick down for a single wipe. You need to give the switch a flick to intermittent and back down to stop it. Any idea how to cure that one?
