Great start to the day-

Hi all-just having a vent-sat at a t junction this morn i got the green light to turn right,nearly completed the turn when a cyclist came straight past the front of me(obviously gone through a red)-i braked and sounded my horn in anger/frustration.Its then that i notice queing traffic up ahead at the same time he calls me a fu%*ing wan%£r,i slow down because i dont want his foot on my door "cmon what are you doing back there you ffing cu^t"
Still keeping the same distance behind him he shouts "get out of your ffing car i'll have you now!
Thinking this is not going to end well,either i will lose a tooth,get stabbed,have my p&j damaged or get arrested having been seen brawling on the cctv nearby i decided to turn off before the queue.
Its just that i am still annoyed with myself for doing this-i should have confronted him-really pissed with myself-i need a jd :( -vent over thanks for reading
 
Smart move keeping your distance! No need putting your car at risk! ;-)
But that said, I understand your frustration.

I had a run in with a neighbor a few weeks ago, who was behaving like a real prick. I bit my tongue, because he had his kids with him. Afterwards I was quite frustrated that I did not stand my ground, but I do think I made the right choice.
 
It's a fine line mate - I do find myself pausing much more before going off on one now, especially near home, as I don't want to wake up / come back to my car and find the it's been keyed or the roof slashed... So I back down and then hate myself for it. But honestly, it's not worth it. The cyclist deserved the horn, but best left at that - one day he'll go through a red and possibly regret it for the rest of his life... Not your problem. He's in a growing minority though, as this happens to me in London on a regular basis. Idiots. You did the right thing :thumbsup:

...of course if he'd hit your car then I'd hope to hear you got out and tw@ted him after checking he was ok :evil:
 
andysat, don't fret over it. It's easy to look back on things and think what you could have done differently. I always try and never make another road user angry, no matter how stupid their actions are towards me. As you say, they could have acted physically towards you.

Don't be angry towards yourself! :thumbsup:
 
Thanks guys-its more annoying because the local nightly news(Look North) have been regularly running reports on how hard cyclists have it that they are having to fit small cameras to the front of their bikes as proof of them getting cut up etc by motorists :evil: -im not having a go at all cyclists,just the minority who seem to think its ok to run reds have no lights etc-rant over again-Phew :oops:

but in all seriousness its over and done with... no harm done... sticks and stones and all!

i had a merc go in the wrong lane at a roundabout and cut into me just now... i flashed my full beams and he throws abusive gestures... when he was in the wrong.... at the next set of lights i put my window down to have some words with him... but then thought what was the point... it just enforces the reputation BMW drivers have. :oops:
 
You can revel in the fact that eventually someone is going to beat the sh!t out of him. :wink:
 
Perhaps that group buy on an in car camera is a good idea after all. We can all post "prick of the week" movies. Hopefully, not of ourselves doing something dumber than we should! Maybe someone will catch your cyclist carving up a bus (the other idiots who feel obliged to pull out without looking) and see who comes off worst :)
 
Go into Halfords this afternoon and trash the cycle department. That will get it off your chest :D

Seriously, I think you did the right thing. Best to rise above it :thumbsup:
 
Scum like that aren't worth it....as Citation says, they'll either get their face smashed in by a van driver or end up crushed and bleeding underneath a lorry.....we can only live in hope. :rofl:

I'm sure that Andy did the right thing by avoiding any confrontation and I agree that any t**t, cyclist or indeed motorist ought to have the book thrown at him for jumping a red light. I'm also a recreational cyclist and I've learnt not to take liberties when in traffic since I value my life too much.
 
I say well done for avoiding the idiot who knows what they would of done not worth the risk.

Sorry to any cyclists on here but I feel like they take the mick some what. I drive round the Nottingham ring road most days and the majority of cyclist choose to ignore the cycle path that is for there safety instead they cycle on the road causing havoc just missing cars and slowing down traffic on a very busy road. A guy I work with does this and his excuse is the cycle path slows him down !!! I once had a cyclist clip my old car they could not care less any damage I'd of had to pay it. They don't have insurance and motorist always get the blame. I just give them as much space as I can and try and keep out of trouble. Not saying all are bad and appologise to those cyclist that do take care on the roads Sorry rant over.

Thank the lord. As I said earlier I'm a cyclist and you must not put them all in the same boat. What you should always remember is that when a car comes into a collision with a cyclist then a cyclist usually comes off worse with possible injuries whereas when we are driving in our cars the worse that happens to us is that we might suffer a bit of paint damage to our pride and joy.
Put's it into perspective and most cyclists will usually have third party personal liability cover, if they are at fault, through their household contents insurance.
