Great Car - Too Much Tech?

Hi Guys,

I've just taken delivery of a 2019 M40i and my initial impression is that it's an Awesome Car but I'm overwhelmed by all this tech and 'visual noise' across the dashboard.
My everyday car is a 2017 X4 which has loads more tech than I need but it seems more easily ignored. I've never set up a driver's profile - but manual adjustment seats make shifting between different heights of drivers almost instant, unlike slow-motion electrical adjusting seats.

My question is; What have you guys set up in terms of Drivers Profiles etc. on your Live Cockpit 7.0?
How easy it it with 2 BMWs of different generations and 2 drivers in a household?
And - is there a way to turn OFF the centre screen?

Cheers,

Hello, welcome and congratulations, first of all
:worthless:

And second, sorry, I’m still waiting for mine so I’ve no idea at present

Hi and welcome to the forum. I do not have a G29 but do have a new BMW with a similar system 7 with lots of tech and would not be without it. It may be a pain setting some of the things up, but once set and saved to a driver profile it is so easy to use. Your Driver Profile can be taken with you to different BMW's so that the things you like can be set up if available in the other car. I use Apple Car Play for access to 'Tidal' music and route guidance. I find it responds quicker than the BMW Sat Nav. I have also set up Android Auto and occasionally I get bored with Apple and switch to Google for music and directions. Others with a G29 will be along soon to tell you everything they have set up. As SARS says, let's have some pictures. :) The following is a review, but Tomas explains things well and shows a lot of the tech. Well worth a watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLMNFW6tehM

Hello and welcome, yes that are awesome cars and also loaded with tech. I’ve had mine for 3 months and still not got to grips with the tech. I only used the adaptive LED’s last night for the first time. I also have a different gen BMW and there no comparison to any of the tech.

Oh, and as mentioned pictures please

Adaptive lights are a great bit of kit to have on ay vehicle

The G29 is starting to grow on me but would miss the tin top

You shouldn’t notice the difference between the soft top and tin top as it should be down irrespective of what it’s made of :poke:

That is true but do occasionally get caught out with the weather :(

Hi Guys,

Thank you very much for the welcome and your friendly support.
I've fumbled my way around a User Profile today but setting up a 2nd for my wife seems incredibly difficult.

Here's a pic from the dealer's advert

You can call BMW connected services and they will talk you through any issues.

I must say though, what an absolutely fantastically stunning colour that is, you clearly have good taste.

Ditto from me too :D

Looking at the two reds together, one with the cerium grey accents and the other with the black shadow line, it’s difficult to know which one I prefer, the key though for me was the two tone cerium grey alloys which look gorgeous and I’m not a lover of black wheels.

Can’t wait to see how the cognac leather goes with the SFR

It was actually my Fiancée tha noticed the difference in what I now know is the shadowline when I was looking at cars. I was looking at a non shadowline and she quickly pointed it out.

I've never really thought of my wheels as black tbh.

Me neither, I’d class them as silver but on the M40i if you specify the shadowline pack it also comes with all black wheels

I personally prefer the SFR with the shadowline pack because I prefer the black grilles etc.

Yours with the diamond cut break up the black, the wheels you get with M40i and shadow line are solid gloss black

I would like to see Lavazza's wheels on my car and vice versa, just to see how both cars would look.

Welcome aboard Lavazza.

SFR is a great colour and I'm a big fan of any interior colour that isn't black!

I'd like to have the red mirror caps on mine.

You could use the reg number of a SFR with red mirror caps and order a set ^
