Mike (Ducklakeview) has been this afternoon and moved my roof motor into the boot. A brilliant job done in double-quick time at an excellent price.. Fortunately the motor was in good order and only needed an oil top-up. On the advice of others in this forum I had it done before there was a problem. If you are thinking about having yours done I recommend Mike without reservation.
So new wheels and tyres on, roof motor moved, recovered wheel from Royals should be here by the end of the week, front and rear parking sensors and daytime running lights booked in for next week. All that remains for the moment is to get this sticky steering sorted out. Nice car mate. I too am over the moon with DLVs service and recomend him to anyone. Top guy and knows his stuff!

As for your car... weighted gearknob next up!

They are Cobra flush fitting ones. Both bumpers have to come off and the sensors need properly painting before fitting i.e. undercoat, base colour and then lacquer. I am told it's a full-day's job. Cost for front and rears including sensors and fitting will be about £425.

Just spotted you are only looking for rears. That will be fair bit cheaper. It is the front sensors which present the biggest challenge so the auto-electrician tells me. It is sometimes difficult to find ways of routing the wiring through the bulkhead.

Forgot to mention. Already bought the ZHP gear knob but haven't got round to trying to fit it yet. I understand the original just pulls off but that Care is needed so you don't smack yourself in the face.
I did like the sports seats on Mike's car but he tells me that you can pay big bucks to get the genuine article.

What I am doing to keep everybody happy is alternating between the whippy and the stubby. I'm doing week and week about. I've got it all marked out on the calendar. Hope that is acceptable. I'll post some pictures with the whippy in place next week.

That sounds like a good plan!

Based on my current stubby experience, at least you will be able to listen to the radio every other week (when you use the whippy). :lol:

On the topic of seats, I believe E46 Sport seats are an easy swap. They aren't as good as Z4 Sport ones, but are a whole lot cheaper and are a significant improvement over SE seats. People have also fitted Mazda RX8 seats - they shouldn't be too hard to find once the rotary has blown up!
 
I have been keeping an eye out for some decent E46 sports seats but so far haven't found any in good condition at a fair price. I'm sure that if I keep looking I'll find some in the end. Thanks for the info on the Mazda seats that is worth investigation too.

Just read your post. I bought mine on eBay for £19.99 from a guy richierich14. I've had a quick look and he has others but not at the price I paid for mine.

Mike did my roof motor relocation and reconditioned the motor in unbelievable short time, as he said it helps to be left handed doing that job!

Works brilliantly! Neat and tucked away in the cubby hole at the side of the boot.

Highly recommended!
